Finally, after all this time rumoring, expecting, and waiting, the Android 2.3, Gingerbread, SDK(Software Development Kit) has been released!
Here are the major points we’ve learned about so far:
- UI Enhancements
- Better keyboard
- New Concurrent Garbage Collector in the Dalvik VM
- New, easier to access Task Manager
- Support for NFC(Near-field Communications)
- Better download management
- SIP Support
- and much, much more

if the NS has a 1Ghz Hummingbird, and the Galaxy S (Vibrant) has the same processor, and same RAM wouldn’t that make the GS very capable of running 2.3? I just have a feeling Samsung will tell us “it’s not upgradable”…

Sooooooo…does this mean that we “Vibrant Users” should just forget about Froyo and just wait for the Gingerbread OTA? I mean waiting 5yrs for an OTA promised years ago is starting to become a little annoying. Please let us know when we can install this on the Vibrant.
