I have no idea how I have missed this application for so long. Even at the lowest level of brightness on my Samsung Vibrant, if I am lying in the dark, I nearly blind myself turning on the screen to do something.

Developer haxor industry put an app out back in November called Screen Filter. What it does is help you filter out the brightness of your screen. I have only tested the application for a few hours so far. It does exactly what it was designed to do though. The controls are easy to use and adjusting your filter is easy with a slider control. I am not sure if it will help with battery life or not, however I will test it throughout the day and find out. There is one known issue with the app right now and it is related to the Nexus S. They are working out the kinks for that right now.

“Is your screen TOO bright even on the lowest setting? Here’s an app that can help.”
im already loving it!
the vibrant screen is sooo bright all the time this helps alot
my mother-in-law thought the same thing until she tried using outside for the first time since she got last month to see some pics my brother-in-law e-mailed her of my niece’s b-day party, even on the brightest setting she ended up borrowing my MT4G so she could see the pics.
I use this and it’s awesome at night while reading and browsing… but if we could just get App Maker for LEDsHack to add our phone to supported for turning the captive button lights off… they still blind me everytime I scroll the page lol
Also if anyone finds an app or any way to disable those lights temporarily .. please let me know
