If you happen to have a rooted Droid Eris, pay attention. Although this is still not a fully completed port of Gingerbread, it is pretty darn close. People that have tested this port out are reporting that it is pretty fast and stable. Some are even claiming that it will work just fine as a daily driver. Of course that is all up to interpretation. Here is what is working in the current version:
- Working OpenGL
- Wifi
- Bluetooth
- In-call microphone
- Audio
- Notification Lights
- Sensors working(Ambient, rotation, etc)
- Data/Radio
The developer states there are still some hiccups with gapps but does provide a download link in the thread to a set that does seem to function well.
It seems as though these developers get better and better every day. I don’t know what we would do with out these guys. If you are interested in giving this latest build by punk.kaos a try, head on over to the KaosGingerbread V6 developer page at xda-developers. Read through the list and give it a go. As always, let us know how it works for you.

You must not know Kaos… His ports are NEVER “near completion”. Kaos Froyo is up to version #39 right now. Gingerbread is at #6? Near completion? lmao!
Its amazing how these devs can do so much with older phones but the manufacturers fail so badly
