Motorola’s Tablet Gets a Name

What the….. Ok, so I know we have all seen some pretty crazy names come out for our beloved Android devices. Some are better than others and some just leave me wondering. Motorola, in my opinion, has never really been too creative (witness The Droid, The Droid 2 and the Droid X just to name a few).

Their latest tablet venture that is supposed to be seen at CES has finally received its name, the DROID XOOM. Creativity lacking again. The XOOM is reportedly running Android 3.0 Honeycomb, 32GB on board memory with expandable SD card slot and front and rear cameras. One surprising feature that seems to be missing from the tablet is LTE service, which is Verizon’s latest venture into 4G.

Just because LTE isn’t build in doesn’t mean it won’t be available, for an extra charge of course. Information that has been found states you can pick up an LTE Modem that will plug into a PCI express expansion slot. It is a questionable move really. The information isn’t confirmed just yet, so file that under the rumor mill for now. If this is true however, it would prevent people that don’t live in a 4G area from paying the extra fee to have a service they couldn’t use.

With CES starting in 7 days, I can promise you we will take a look at this tablet and find out all the information possible on Verizon and Motorola’s plans.
