Quick Look: NOOKcolor

5

I have been using the NOOKcolor (NC from this point forward) a lot the last few days.  I haven’t been able to spend enough time with it to do a full review but I am hoping to share some of the features and thoughts that I’ve had so far.

The VividView™ screen is beautiful.  It has great viewing angles and is quite bright – yet I have not suffered any eye fatigue after more than four hours of reading different types of media (book, newspaper, magazine, and web).

The mono speaker works well and produces surprisingly good sound.  When using the Nook Kids books Read To Me feature, the speaker is clear and distortion free.  Playing the bundled Pandora through the speaker works well, as long as you don’t try to really push the volume.

The primary function of the NC is to function as an e-reader.  There are so many functions and nice little touches that I personally feel make this THE e-reader to beat.  I’ve spent a good bit of time with most other e-readers (and not as much time as I would have liked with Kindle) and feel that e-ink worked but there is nothing that can touch having a vivid color screen.

I want to leave you with this thought as I finish my review of the NOOKcolor…as of this moment, this is personally my favorite Android device to date.    I am in love with it.  Period.

  1. I will totally second Cameron on this one. We each purchased the NOOKColor and it’s the best Android Tablet I’ve used to date. I’ve never seen Angry Birds look so good. Now it’s i the hands of my wife (as it’s for her anyway) so I’m not sure when I’ll get a good video review done. but it will be soon.
    Go buy one people!

My wife hasn’t puts hers down since I rooted it. She’s adicted to angy birds on it. It’s an excellent adroid tablet.

I have one and the main reason i bought it was due to small form factor and the ability to read large pdf files. I plan on rooting it here shortly once i get another sd card. It’s right there next to the galaxy tab for 400 bucks cheaper. I’m sorry but im not going to hold up a 7-10″ tablet and take pictures when i have perfectly capable phone that is less awkward to hold while taking them. The best thing about the nookcolor is there is no monthly contract fee. hook up to any wifi and go!!! best thing ever!!

I purchased one for xmas gift from my wife to myself :) I love it! I rooted mine immediately and have had no issues. The screen is AWESOME! I would not have been happy with the Samsung Tab. I cannot justify the price for one of them. The features that it has that the NC does not have are already on my phone. The only downside is lack of bluetooth, which hopefully will be resolved. *crossed fingers*
