We just received word from a trusty source that the HTC Thunderbolt 4G is going to be rocking the Arm v7 processor, single core clocked at 1ghz. As nice as it would have been for the previous rumored specs to have come true, we now know what is reality. It also comes equipped with 8GB internal memory, and hitting a quadrant score of 1900. As we receive more information on this device we will keep you updated.

Single core, really?
It seems they have to overcome battery issues before they start increasing cpu specs…while we all love the performance..we also would like a phone that would make it through the day without having to have it plugged in at our office…
Nvidia were claiming the dual core CPUs actually use LESS battery than single core, due to them being throttled back more of the time.
As someone who is still using a HTC Touch HD (window mobile, 500mhz) and waiting for a great Android phone to be released, this saddens me. If it had dual core I’d have snapped it up in a second flat.
Same reason I don’t have a Nexus S on my desk, my girlfriends Galaxy S is just too slow at times.
That would be the case provided the software did a good job of managing the two cores correctly. Perhaps Nvidia and Android didnt work closely for this to happen?
I understand your frustration. If it helps…I have a vibrant and Team whiskey’s Nero v3 has the best performance I have seen ever so far. (look for it on xda or their site) They also have a voodoo enable through cwm. I have tried several roms (eugene, aosp builds, TW roms…all of them, eclair and froyo builds) and this one really did the trick. I messed it up by applying a theme modification over it but I will be restoring back soon. The downside..not so great battery life. But its a trade off I can live with..just have a backup battery with me and keep phone charging at work. Nero V3 really made a difference. No lag so far.
Best battery life with decent performance was Nero Beta V1 (V3 was slightly improved performance but worse battery life).
I am thinking of trying one of eugenes super io kernels with nero v3 to see what happens.
With a name like Thunderbolt, you’d think it would be impressive.
Of course, I’m sure the name “Static Discharge” wouldn’t get much buy-in, so they went with deception.
yea you WOULD think, this is really dissapointing…
The ARM v7 processor that I know of that supports LTE is the MSM8960. I don’t think there are any single cores 1Ghz processors that support LTE, CDMA2000, and EV-DO (all the revs). Plus this tip is too general. If your source is so trusty, they’d reveal a little more than a clock speed and an instruction set (ARMv7).
I don’t buy it. I’ll wait until CES for the truth, not some more “insider” tip.

I can’t believe you people are complaining about what could be a great processor (and has already been proved as on in the DHD if it is a 2 gen single core snap).
Probably the same who complained about the G2 being clocked at 800MHz. *sigh*
i complain!
don’t believe it. why would they settle for single core…
That sucks they place a single core processor in this beautiful

man this is a great device that i so want and will have. I don’t care what you guys think. Stop complaining. Hell its nice for what it has. If you don’t like get another device.
I find it funny how all these people are complaining about it being single core when there isn’t even a real dual core phone released yet. Froyo doesn’t even support Dual Core processors so all a dual core processor is going to do is kill your battery even faster. Sure, I’d love a tegra2 in every phone, but I’d want the platform to fully support it first.
To Nanahara: The Motorola Droid Bionic has a Dual Core processor in case you didn’t know.
They should create a phone you can take back to the store in 2 months to upgrade the hardware. I hate to buy a phone when they come out with a better one 2 months later.
Well. The phone is finally here.Went on sale today morning. The phone I must admit is fast but on the internet on the hands on it shows the phone booting up in about 8 seconds. The one I have takes almost 30. Big difference. Well. I hope you like the phone as much as I do.
Well, thanks to Vincent Nguyen for explaining, here’s how to change that. Now it takes about 5 seconds
Fast boot is off by default. go to Settings > Power and then check fast boot. Later guys
