Samsung teamed up with AT&T to bring us a monster sized phone. The Infuse 4G comes with a 4.5″ SuperAMOLED plus screen. SuperAMOLED plus comes with 50% more sub-pixels 12 instead of 8 which Samsung is touting will perform even better outdoors as well as helping to make text and images more crisp.
Before the photos here are the known specs as of now.
- OS: Android 2.2 (Froyo)
- Processor: 1.2 GHz Hummingbird processor
- Connectivity: 4G (HSPA+)
- Camera: 8MP w/LED flash 720p recording
- HD Content output to TV (unspecified routing)
- 1750 mAh battery
Nobody was allowed to have a hands on with the Infuse 4G but here are some photos to help see the outrageously large phone. As you can see the capacitive buttons on the front retain the layout of the Galaxy S phones left to right: Menu, Home, Back, and Search. On the top of the device you will find a 3.5mm headphone jack (as well as what looks like a secondary microphone – for noise cancellation perhaps). On the right is the Power button, left the volume rocker, and on the bottom a micro USB port (and mic).

That thing is huuuuuuuuge. I want to see it pressed up against someone’s head, like on a phone call, so I can laugh at it.
Have you ever seen someone use a Dell Streak as a phone? I think I might have a photo of fonefanatic using his down at the Big Android BBQ. If I do I’ll post it.
This phone is too much, seriously. Way too large to comfortably use as a phone.
I have the HTC Desire HD with it’s 4.3″ screen. At first I found it pretty big but now it feels like a normal sized phone to me. I have to say though, 4.3″ is the limit of what I would consider to be a everyday phone, not sure how this mammoth 4.5 incher will go as an everyday phone.
Where’s the line between tablet and phone.I’d call this a tablet simply because it probably wouldn’t fit in my pocket

I do have to say that the SuperAMOLED plus screen has SIGNIFICANTLY improved. The text does not look all blocky anymore, not matter how close you look at it. Sadly I didn’t get a chance to actually test the claims that it is even better adapted to use in sunlight. I don’t doubt that it is though.
