We all love to brag about how fast our Android phone is compared to someone else’s. Historically we only had 2 main applications that would give us at least some basis to start with, even if they could be slightly off. Looks like I am little late to the game on sharing this application, but better late than never right?
The company that created this application states it may deliver lower results on some Galaxy S devices. As we saw a little bit ago, that didn’t seem to be the case on the Epic 4G. I have run the test on my Samsung Vibrant, which is sporting Team Whiskeys Nero V5 ROM. I am not 100% sure at this moment, but I think I have lost my Voodoo for some reason. That’s what I get for playing around too much. Either way I was still very pleased with my scores. I know they could or should be a little higher than they are though, especially since the top devices beating me out right now are other Galaxy S devices. Give this app a go and let us know your results. I am very interested to see how other devices and ROMs fare.

I just ran this on my Vibrant with Nero V 5 with Voodoo enabled got scores of 1163 for Productivity Index, and 2591 for Games Index… so OP I do think you disabled your voodoo.
I figured as much too. Now we need to track down what she did. I am still impressed by any of the Galaxy S devises. Regardless of the software, the hardware is really good. Thats why we have people out there like Team Whiskey to save those issues.
have you tested the new trigger rom…im going to give it a try over the weekend and see how it performs..jdan and some others over at xda vouch itds running smoother than nero…im still going to a fan of team whiskey..but its good to know others make great work for our vibrant too…i might have to try both with this app and see what i get..
1052/2556 vibrant on nero v5 vood enabled
I gave it a try. Got a 91/224 on my Google Ion and a 662/629 on my EVO 4G. Not very
impressive scores, especially considering the EVO scores higher then the Galaxy S using
the Quadrant and Linpack tests. I then tried my Captivate and got a 1080/2507. Seems
this test is very favorable to the Galaxy S phones.
Both EVO’s QSD8650 and Galaxy S’ Hummingbird uses Cortex A8 design, so their productivity numbers shouldn’t be very far off and they are not. On the other hand, Hummingbird’s GPU is MUCH more powerful than Adreno 200 in EVO. Also, I believe your EVO isn’t well optimized. CyanogenMod-running Nexus One gets 1000/1000 according to that chart above. Look at the results for the myTouch 4G – best overall productivity scores but less impressive GPU scores (again to be expected as Adreno 205 still isn’t as powerful as Power GSX540). I don’t think the result is biased towards Galaxy S phones – it simply says Galaxy S has more powerful GPU, which is true.
My Nexus S is 100% stock (no root) and I got a bench result of 2658.
I have a HTC Desire HD running stock 2.2.1 rom.
Smartbench results – 1020 / 1407, less than the G2, what gives.
Quadrant results are 1858, much higher than all other phones in the results browser.
What gives ??? How can my phone score so poorly on one and so strongly on another ?
If you look at Quadrant Advanced results, most of the weighting comes from the I/O. If you value the speed of your phone’s I/O that much, then it is accurate. At the end of the day, it all depends on how well the benchmark mimics your typical phone usage.
As for the variance in the result – little things do matter. Kill some other processes, do another run on the benchmark app, etc. myTouch 4G has identical processor as the Desire HD, so their scores should be similar if other heavy processes are not running. I’ve seen other Desire HD scores at a similar level as myTouch 4G, so its most likely that there’s some room for optimization on your phone.
