T-mobile has finally gotten around to getting the Fender LE edition and the 1.2 versions of the MyTouch 3G’s updated to Froyo 2.2. The worst part about the update is the fact that many phones are being bricked, which for the average consumer means your phone won’t boot or work. This is a serious problem that seems to keep recurring with carrier/manufacturer updates.
The good news though: if you happen to find yourself in that situation on your Fender LE edition, T-Mobile is currently exchanging the device out for customers. Guess what the exchange is? A Samsung Vibrant! Not bad if I do say so myself. If you happen to be bricked on the black MyTouch 3G 1.2, your exchange is being reported as an LG Optimus, which still isn’t horrible.
So if you are stuck and your phone is frozen, be sure to give T-Mobile a call and get yourself a new device.

that is a decent upgrade…if anything id be glad if that happened
Any way to update without OTA? I had to void my warranty to replace broken LCD and they won’t exchange it even if OTA bricks phone.

It looks like there is a pattern with HTC phones always bricking with OTA updates, for example, HTC EVO and now this phone. What’s up with that…then again just my observation.
a lg optimus? dats a free phone
I got the OTA and my phone did not brick, however i can only call and text… yup pretty much everything else got destroyed after many calls with t-mobile all they offered was forme to buy a new phone. Not even a discount a a new set. So basically they will only replace your phone if you are under the one year warranty and gets completely bricked. DO NOT UPDATE.
I am just now having problems with my phone. Besides it taking forever to do anything. I can not watch videos on it. You can here the sound but the picture never shows. Also when text messaging, every other text I send out just says sending and nothing else.
