Seeing as I can’t pick a favorite at this time, I’m growing more and more attached to Sense UI, but like certain aspects of others. Which got me curious: what does everyone else think? So I figured I’d ask.
- What is your favorite Android UI?
- What do you like about it?

vanilla all the way, sense stuff has been ported that are alright features, so if i want sense things just grab and install. other then that sense is a huge hog.
I think miui should be included in this list too seeing as its quite an overhaul from the stock android ui

MIUI has been added.
Agreed, Sense is bulky. I love Vanilla as well, but I enjoy the integrated features with-in Sense, of course I also love the TouchWiz integrations. I’m torn between the 3.
MIUI
Vanilla is great. I don’t understand why people say it’s not as nice as Sense. It’s every bit as nice and it doesn’t hog your resources.
Vanilla FTW!!!!!!
Vanilla for me!
Hi my name is j.c. And I’m a flashaholic but miui has almost cured that. Sense came stock on my Dinc and it’s nice I would recommend it to anyone buying a phone who probably wouldn’t root. Since I came from the original Droid™ I was partial to vanilla til I found miui!
I prefer vanilla, but some aspects of the sense are also great like the dialer, the bookmarks widget or the people widget. To be honest I hate the vanilla dialer, is so ugly and useless, I use the dialer one
1.) MIUI
2.) Sense
I like MIUI because everything WORKS [sorta like CM]. I like the custom file explorer, and the overall interface is actually really easy to use.
Sense is fantastic because it combines everything together in one place–FB, Twitter, and Gmail, without you having to manually choose which person is tied to which Twitter account.
None, they all give us(developers) a hard time dealing with compatibility issues hehehe so i go with AOSP UI
In other words, Vanilla…
Vanilla. With the amount of launchers, Widgets and home replacements in the Market we don’t need manufacturers pushing their UI on us.
…..and then using it as a crutch to be late with OS updates.
I love sense (use it daily), but why does everyone praise that dialer??? Yes, on paper it’s the most usable and full of features, but there’s barely any visual feedback when hitting the number buttons, just a small shade switching position to up. More contrast wouldn’t hurt…
Vanilla on any android g1 to evo all the way
All those UI’s do (except for vanilla) is produce a bunch of bloatware. One of the main reasons people root their phone is to remove that. I’d say a themed vanilla.
until I got the MT4G I was all about Vanilla only, but after running themed Pure Sense from the Desire HD on my MT4G I am loving Sense. however for my 2 other phones that are not running a 1GHz CPU I still love my CM6.
so in short it depends on the phone… mid-ranged = Vanilla, high-end = Sense.
That’s what I’m running on my myTouch 4G, and it’s growing on me more and more.
Have to go with vanilla. I always install my launcher pro on all of my devices. Which, by the way I have setup exactly the same for which ever phone i decide to use that day. Also, don’t need all that unnecessary bloat ware I never use.
Umm… why aren’t launcher pro and adw included in this poll? IMO, either of those are better than all of these.
If you’re intentionally including only ‘stock’ launchers for some reason, then i’d say it doesn’t matter, install Launcher Pro. Also, root your phone and remove whatever other launcher the OEM put on there.
This poll is for User Interfaces, not launchers. If you would like we could do a poll on your favorite home launcher replacement, however that would be a separate poll.
Launcher = UI. Since the launcher is literally the User Interface, separating the two is both illogical and merely a mincing of words. The only difference betwee the two is one comes preloaded, the other you have to download. Any way you dice it, Launchers are still UIs.
Cypher,
The UI consists of way more than a launcher (i.e. Launcher Pro, ADW.Launcher). The UI distinguishes how things look from you task bar to the way the message application is designed. The UI is everything that you see to the eye, whereas a launcher just merely replaces the app drawer and customizes the look of the home screen, however the rest of the UI is untouched.
I’ll conceed that point somewhat, however TouchWiz for instance falls into the same category as Launcher Pro then. The reason being that even if you remove touchwiz from your device in it’s entirety things like the appearace of the messaging app and taskbar remain.
So even if your point is that Launchers do not encompass the entiety of a UI, my point remains that TouchWiz and the like still fall into the same category as Launcher Pro or ADW.
If you’re trying to ask about the entirety of a UI, then really it more becomes a question of manufacturers and/or models (as not all Samsung models come with TouchWiz) as it’s the manufacturers that preform the additional UI customizations in addition to whatever Launcher they slap on top of it. My point is that TouchWiz does not encompass the entirety of the UI changes; just the launcher.
That said, I have a Galaxy S Epic 4g and rather like the UI changes that Samsung made, but I greatly dislike TouchWiz which is why I have removed that Launcher and replaced it with Launcher Pro.
Looks like we have another poll on our hands.
tweek much?

Miui all the way! Got it in December on my Nexus and have never looked back. Easily best Rom I’ve ever used and that includes vanilla and Cyanogen. Give it a try Jacob.
vanilla, but more specifically gingerbread/honeycomb. Before i always used metamorph to change tons of images in the phone, but with gingerbread/honeycomb i wouldn’t even do that.
For the hone screen though, launcher pro all the way for the phone. for the tablet, i think i’ll leave it stock honeycomb
I love stock, but sense has some super neat features, which I wish stock will later bring.
I prefer Vanilla for the speed. I loved Sense back in the day when the Hero first came out; however, Sense was and still is just too bulky and slow for my taste. After spending some time with Vanilla, I’ve found apps that mirror a lot of what Sense does really well–widgets, for example. Basically, I completely configure my Vanilla setup and ultimately it does take on a lot of what Sense brings to the table while keeping the speed and stability of Sense. Now I just wish Vanilla would implement a speed dialer like Sense does…
ADWLauncher EX is my favorite. Love all the customization. So I suppose Vanilla would go best underneath it.
How many people voted for Vanilla but actually use a Launcher?
I use ADW but only because it comes with CyanogenMOD.
Vanilla CM7 with Launcher Pro = Perfection!
ADW Launcher EX running on CM 7
[...] I think the official conclusion of the “Favorite UI” poll is clear. It’s pure, sweet Vanilla Android. I got alot of questions as to why launchers such [...]
the only think bothering me about stock is the 4×4 icon placements
i need that one extra row on my screen for things to work out nice
thats why stock is my favorite because of the simplified ui and adw launcher on top
None of the above. I’m using the LG Optimus Z launcher I fixed from over at XDA. It’s simple, clean with 5 or 7 home screens and comes with a home switcher too. Other than that sense would be a close second, but lack of modularity is a big downer.
