Motorola officially announced the availability WiFi XOOM yesterday, and which retailers would be carrying it. Although the WiFi variant of the XOOM will not be on the market until March 27th, it seems Costco is already offering a promotion. Pre-orders are available now through this retailer at a price of $589.99 and all customers that pre-order this tablet will receive a free gel-skin to help protect this new investment.
Customers that take advantage of this sale can expect their XOOM’s to ship April 1st, which is a few days after the initial release. Of course this raises a question. Why pre-order when you won’t be receiving your device until after the release?

guess I will stick to my Nook Color and Honeycomb for now. Much cheaper which is enough for me to justify NOT spending 600 dollars for a bigger screen and more power..
FYI. . .
Costo extends the warranty to two years for such devices.
From the Costo Motorola Xoom’s page:
“For COMPUTERS, TELEVISIONS and PROJECTORS, Costco extends the MANUFACTURER’S WARRANTY to two years from date of purchase. Please call Costco Concierge™ Technical Support @ 1-866-861-0450 for warranty assistance.”
So it’s a pretty good deal when you factor in the addition of the extra warranty. Purchase it with your AX and the warranty should be doubled.
I wonder if this will outsell the Ipad2?
