It seems every man and his dog is running benchmarks that pitch Android devices against their archrival, the iPhone 4. Our good friends over at WireFly.com have made a quick video comparing the Internet speeds of Verizon’s 2 top tier devices, the HTC Thunderbolt and the Apple iPhone 4.
WireFly HTC Thunderbolt Vs iPhone 4 Speedtest
No surprise that the Thunderbolt performed leaps and bounds above the iPhone as it’s the company’s premier 4G LTE device.

Does this want to make you switch to Verizon and the HTC Thunderbolt? Let us know your thoughts below!

I don’t trust anything with that speedtest.net widget on Android.
All these people are iphone users who write these comments! Sometimes iphone sucks! I switched from iphont to droid cos iphone had a boring interface..after 3 years of usage. Everyone must understand that other phones are as good or better than iphone. If like your phone it is not a problem but do not be blind about your phone.
)
nah,I agree with this guy,the speedtest app for android is broken. Connected to the same wifi network as my laptop, the phone gets ~3300kbps down,1100kbps up,my laptop gets 39000kbps down and 2000kbps up. both connected over wireless N
Sorry, that is NOT an acceptable 4G speed for the TB. . . maybe acceptable for “4G” but not for true LTE 4G.
what are you NUTS? Substantiate, And tell me what your iPhone DLs…
when i run this test on my thunderbolt in boston i get 30mbps dl and 29mbps ul… (i do believe the testing is flawed). so i tethered the phone to my computer and ran the test on the internet and i was getting 20mbps dl and 6mbps ul. when i run the same test on my motorola droid i get 466kbps and 831kbps.
I hate these test. Doesn’t prove anything. I live in Fresno, where coverage sucks everywhere lol
these test mean nothing…LTE is new if there speeds are exceptional now they should be verizon only has one 4g device on there LTE network…Wait till they get more devices on there network then see how fast it is…Sprint created this 4g game many months ago and brought the first 4g android device to market in the Htc Evo 4g which is a proven device for the last 10months on android it rains supreme and does sprint over verizon any day of the week…
You must be on something if you think Sprint is better than Verizon. Wake up donkey!
Yeah you must be out of your mind if you think Sprint has better coverage than verizon. No need to debate that argument
There coverage is good enough and it all depends on where you live exactly. It’s not like verizon has such great coverage all over nothing like you make it seem. Yeah Verizon is alright but they never inform there customers on any related problems and truthfully there the best at overcharging for services that other carriers are not over charging for. Everyone gets on this verizon bandwagon but truthfully bigger isn’t always better that’s for sure and the devices they have doesn’t top sprint.
I can tell you that I work for sprint in baton rouge and have a Verizon phone sprints 4g is just a faster 3G however the Verizon 4g LTE is a REAL 4g test both an android from sprint and the same android phone from Verizon and see who you like best but I promise Verizon will come out on top always.
I got Nexus S. I just laugh on this test if your gonna compare to phones compare to similar phones not one that is 4G and the other 3G shit is stupid!
I saw this phone in January at a bar. The phone itself was not eye candy. I am not sure exactly why its being hyped up so bad. Every new android phone out is an iphone killer pretty much.
why are you iphone dogs so mad about android , this is about 3g vs 4g so dont cry …
Its awesome!!! Quite Interesting comparison between Two Devices Speeds.. The major Difference between both devices is Android..
For starters why is the add comment option at the bottom? Secondly I’m confused… what is the point of testing U&D speeds on a 4G device against a 3G device? That’s like when Apple tested browsing speeds with iOS 4.2 against 2.1 when 2.2 was the newest version of Android… it’s apparent who will win.
The point is that there is no 4G iPhone available today, so for those of us trying to decide whether to get an iPhone or a Thunderbolt it’s very nice to see a comparison of devices we can actually buy.
I have an iPhone and will always be a loyal iPhone user but I do understand why a number of people are now switching to the Android, there’s not a major amount of difference, they have mainly the same functions and the Android is so much cheaper!! The graphics on the iPhone are better though and the Android can’t always get all the apps. We wrote an article a week or so ago with the pro’s and con’s for both http://www.lucidica.com/blog/cto/the-best-smart-phone-for-small-business/ could help make up minds for those who are undecided!!
