Everyone is currently trapped in the perpetual buzz surrounding AT&T’s purchase of T-Mobile, and yes it will be an adjustment. Perhaps one of the most common arguments on the matter is the availability of phones that will still work once/if the takeover happens. However the new collaboration between LG and T-Mobile nullifies that worry. The T-Mobile G2X beyond bringing a new AOSP experience to customers will also offer AT&T 850MHz band, meaning that even if AT&T manages to takeover it will still be able to function on 4G (where available) without a problem, and not only in the US but in Europe, Asia, and the rest of the Americas as well.
Of course this also means that current AT&T customers could look at picking up this device as well, provided they’re willing to pay the off-contract fee. It’s going to be interesting to say the least, especially if T-Mobile is looking at releasing more devices offering quad-band radios.

Hopefully the “Pyramid” has this feature as well. This AT&T thing is gonna suck. I got my T-Mobile bill today and almost cried. The Android carrier is getting eaten up by the carrier that I swear wants Android to fail.
Why would at&t want android to fail? Not like they don’t offer android phones
No off market apps, when AT&T first released Android phones they had Yahoo search not Google. AT&T is certainly making a push on Android, after losing the I-Phone. Aside from the Atrix, name me a great Android phone on AT&T. By the way AT&T also throttles data speeds for Android and not their precious I-Phone. Search this very site for posts on everything I wrote here.
Inspire 4G!
i hate at&t too, but your wacko, at&t is making a big push for Android. The out of market app blocker imposed by at&t sucks but is good for application developers, piece of shit people cant download apps outside the marker, you want a game, you pay for it, not go and find an apk on the net and have the app free. thats bullshit. thats why there are so many really nice games on iphone that are not available on android, because fuck heads like you. and for the record, FUCK AT&T.
You ever hear of a nifty little app called Wireless Tether. Probably not on AT&T. Not every app you need is on the market. Not every app off market a pirate app smart guy. Just to root certain phones you have to side load apps. What about app backups. Can I install off SD card? By the way, when did you last buy an android developer a beer. I show my appreciation with my wallet, not making an ass of myself.
Finding an “apk” online instead of paying for it is a poor excuse for AT&T’s bullshit side loading block. I can jailbreak an iPhone/iPod Touch and get every app for free but you don’t see AT&T trying to do something about that. I hope this merger doesn’t go thru because if it does I will jump ship quicker than the people on the Titanic did and run to either Sprint or Verizon. Fuck AT&T. I have 5 different phones on T-Mobile I like to switch between and this merger will render all of them but my Vibrant useless because of the 3G bands.

As I recall the Vibrant also supported AT&T 3G, I would imagine it’s very inexpensive to have all new phones have radios that are capable of both to future proof the phones.
I wonder if such a deal is part of the framework agreement, which would be one reason why AT&T will still end up paying TMO if the deal falls through.
Yes the Vibrant does see some of the 3G bands on AT&T. I am in the great minority on T-Mobile. I just had 5 months of hell with them. Actually it was 90 days. The first 60 days were fine then my Coverage went in the crapper. It wasn’t my phone it was T-Mobile’s network. My G2, HD2 and Wifes BB 9700 all had no data coverage and very little to no cell coverage. T-Mobile’s answer was reset the phone(4X) and change settings on my account. I even went to the extent with my G2 to replace the radio, which helped away for my house but not near it.
I finally had enough and went to AT&T. I now have full 3G and my iPhone data speed is faster than my G2 supposed “4G”.
So far my customer service interaction and in the store has been 10X better than T-Mobile.
this new product from AT&T is in going to purchase the T mobile G 2 X Quad band 4G with in collaboration of LG and T mobiles.
Verizon here i go!!
AT&T HAS 2PHONES.1 IS THE INSPIRE4G,BUT THEY SHOULD OF NAMED IT…THE GREATEST 4G,THATS MY OPINION.BECAUSE THE PHONE IS GREAT,AWSOME,ETC…NOW…WE HAVE THE MOTO ATRIX.HAS ALOT OF POTENTIAL,BUT…AS LONG AS IT STAYS WITH AT&T.CONSUMERS, & POTENTIAL ATRIX CUSTOMERS.WILL NOT BUY THE PHONE.NOT LIKE VERIZON FOR EXAMPLE.THEY WILL NOT HURRY & PUSH A PHONE OUT OR ADVERTISE IT UNLESS THE PHONE IS UP & READY TO SELL,OTHER WISE IT WILL REMAIN NOT IN STORES.AT LEAST UNTILL THEY HAVE GOTTEN 1,2,OR3 OTHER PEOPLE OUT SIDE THE COMPANY.MY POINT IS….U MUST ADVERTISE,ADVERTISE.APPLE DOES THE SAME BUT EVEN CLOSE WHAT VERIZON DOES.BASICLY IF AT&T ISNT OUT TELLING PEOPLE THAT THERE PHONES ARE THE BEST IN THE U.S…RIGHT NOW NO WILL TALK AT&T SERIOUSLY.ASLO THEY NEED TO GET RID OF THERE “DATA THROTELING”PEOPLE WILL BE STUCK W/ AN IPHONE.. ANDROID KILLS THE BEST….
