I am in SHOCK!!! I’m not joking, this amazes me. The first phone that was going to push the limits of what Android could be. The hardware sounded like it could easily have lounged at the top of the food chain but Sony Ericsson decided to launch it with a very outdated version of Android. Eventually they updated the X10 to Android 2.1 Eclair.
That was the end of the story, no updates coming after 2.1. While we were at the Consumer Electronics Show we sat down with some of Sony Ericsson’s people and they told us of their plan to become the number one manufacturer of Android devices in the United States. We were also told that Sony Ericsson never anticipated the level of interest in having updates pushed out to their devices.
If they do actually update the X10 to 2.3 Gingerbread I might begin to believe that Sony Ericsson has a chance to meet their lofty sales goals. I would personally love to see timely updates to their upcoming devices. As a consumer I give a company only 1 second chance. Some of the other manufacturers were given that opportunity to prove that they were capable of adjusting their strategies in order to meet the demands of their customers – only to let many of us down yet again.
Sony, this is your chance, don’t mess it up. I want to trust you.

as a former x10 owner i shudder to think what sony is going to do this phone with 2.3. their 2.1 was a walking piece of dreck.
i’m happy with my htc desire hd. its what my x10 should have been.
lol…poor sony, there are trying their best to get their customers back. This should be a lesson to all the other companies out there. You screw with your customers and they will screw you back big time.
That’s a grate news. Hope others will follow soon as well. like HTC
This sounds really awesome and I am glad issues are in the process of being resolved. Of course not everyone will be happy but the goal is to clear keep as many happy as possible.
In the meantime, I’d like to know what’s happening with the 2.1 upgrade for at&t users in the US. I haven’t received that upgrade so it would be nice to know how things are going.

They already had a second chance when I.kept.the.phone after a long delay in updating it to 2.1. Then the update was well below expectations and promised features were completely forgotten.
SE will never be a leader because their updates have sucked and it takes them forever to make said ducky updates.
