Among the many other Galaxy S devices that have seen offical Froyo builds the Fascinate it seems has been left behind. While some other devices have been seeing Gingerbread test ROM leaks and even offical builds from some manufacturers the Samsung Fascinate has been left, if unmodified, running Eclair from the original launch. However it seems in the wake of the Droid Charge source code being found, a Fascinate Froyo source code was also discovered. Of course this isn’t something you can readily flash and is basically useless until a developer grabs it and makes flashable ROM out of it. This could mean Fascinate users may see a Froyo update soon.
The version number for this build is ED01 and features Android 2.2.1. If you’d like to download it and take a look a copy can be obtained from the Samsung opensource site under the model name SCH-I500. It would seem as if the massive response from users requesting an update may have paid off. We’ll find out when/if an OTA rolls out for the Fascinate owners out there.

That’s great news and from what I understand it will now be possible to get everything working in Cyanogenmod 7 thanks to having the source code.
