Customizing the look and feel of our Android device has always been at the top of the list of desires. Custom ROMs help add a little flare and often times increases performance and “coolness”. But what about the rest of the world. Those that are afraid to root their device or are unfortunate enough to not be able to sport CM7? Thankfully, HuSmith, Inc, put together an app that has the potential to help out everyone. The app is called Lock Menu. Take a read at the list of features below-
- Configure up to 7 sliders
- Launch applications or shortcuts from sliders
- Launch direct dial or direct text from sliders
- Go to Home screen from sliders
- Configure whether each slider unlocks device
- Slider custom text
- Configure sound slider to toggle vibrate or silent mode
- Configure sound slider to launch app or shortcut
- Choose between pre-Gingerbread and Gingerbread slider styles
- Set lock screen timeout
- Enable/disable wallpaper
- Fullscreen mode
- Configure date/time format and layout
The app was launched originally just over a month ago and has moved up in the number of downloads rather quickly. The current version is FREE but does support ads. HuSmith Inc working hard to bring updates to the app based off user input and suggestions. They plan to release a PRO or paid version that is ad free. Not sure when that might happen but it is in the works.
My experience with the application has been great. the menu structure is easy to use and simple to understand. With the option to set each slider to unlock the device or simple launch the app or direct dial someone then re-lock your device. It installs as a home replacement but works together with what you are using. For instance, I use ADWLauncher EX. When you first install Lock Menu you set your primary home application and go on from their.
I highly recommend this app if you are looking for another way to not only differentiate your lock screen from others but also increase your productivity of your device.
