Remember the HTC Flyer? You know, the “new” tablet from HTC, running on Gingerbread, with Stylus support? Still don’t? Maybe this picture will refresh your memory–
Ah, what a lovely picture. See how it highlights an effective and mature use of a nifty digital stylus? Yeah, apparently it’s being sold separately. HTC says so, and Best Buy seems to silently agree–selling the Stylus for a drop-in-the-bucket-price of $79.99. Holy shamwow, Batman!
Still don’t believe me? Here’s what an HTC rep had to say:
I understand you would like confirmation if the Digital Stylus would be coming with the Flyer. The Digital Stylus will be sold separately. We currently do not have any pricing information on how much the Digital Stylus would be.
I’m really let down hearing this, because the whole concept of this tablet was the stylus functionality. And I highly doubt that anyone would want to drop $80 on a Stylus. Meh. Oh well. It looks like I’m sticking with my iPad 2.

on the flip side of this bamboozle, I’m sure that it will open a niche market for cheaper htc stylus clones for probably half the price on ebay/amazon what have you. I wonder if it is the same technology that was used in my old toshiba tablet pc? if so I’ll just rip the stylus off of that thing and be good to go.
