HTC Sensation engineering phone unlocked and rooted in France. Root for the rest on it’s way!

9

A user over on XDA called rahan95 apparently purchased a HTC sensation from a French ad website.  He got more of a shock when he powered on the device and found that what he had purchased was an Engineering device with a completely unlocked and rooted system installed.  He has already extracted the HBOOT.IMG which you can download here.

He said in his thread:

I got this afternoon a test unit from HTC (the box states “Z710e_Demo units”)

When I loggued in with my Google account, all my apps were automatically restored, including Titanium Backup

To my great surprise, when I launched it, it was written on the first screen that it had root access !

I copied over my titanium back up folder from my Galaxy SII to the Sensation and could indeed restore all my apps and data !!!

I also tried Root Explorer and it works very well on my unit !

The community is working with rahan95 as he is no developer and asking for assistance to extract whatever the community needs to help with rooting of the device before it hits consumers.  what a lucky guy he is.  Stay tuned to AndroidSPIN and we’ll keep you updated on the progress.

If I just read correctly I think they just locked it into a stock Rom now. Which is a real shame I would have purchased this device if root and roms were being made for this device.

Its not a problem at all since the hboot was extracted before i accidentally locked it up =)
