ASUS Transformer Looking to Take Out Competitors This Month as Shipments Increase

If you’ve failed to gets your hands on an ASUS Transformer your moment is coming. Grabbing one of these devices is not an easy task, they often sell out faster than you can make it to a store or click the submit button. While so would figure this is due to the massive demand of this tablet it has a lot more to do with the amount of stock the stores receive. ASUS had announced that shipments for the Transformer were limited but promised that this would turn around in June. Well here we are and while we haven’t seen these actions take effect just yet, a challenge has been thrown out by the company. ASUS has upped the ante now stating that not only will availability increase but that they will also beat all of their competitors. Strong words, but can they back them up?

If you look at some of the new offering in the tablet world only three really come to mind, the Motorola XOOM, and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Aside from 3G connectivity these tablets all come with dual-core processors and Honeycomb with only the only big difference being price. The Motorola XOOM, while it’s gone down a bit, is an expensive device tipping the scales at $800 out-right or $600 on contract. While Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 is just now hitting the streets and if the limited I/O editions are any indication, could see troubles in the quality control department.

So will the ASUS Transformer given it’s sub $500 price and identical hardware be a force to be reckoned with? I don’t think it takes a very smart guy to figure this one out.

I'm an avid technology lover. My first Android device was a G1; I fell in love (except for the battery), next I got a Samsung Captivate; error in judgment on my behalf, now I've moved on to the MyTouch 4G; which I absolutely love. What started with me just needing some kind of phone to use, i.e. free G1, ended with a new addiction.... I also enjoy long walks on the beach and luxurious bubble baths.... Oh wait.

Why do you forget the ACER A500 which seems to have some good reviews and is already available since several weeks ?

    • Xylomaphoner

The Transformer is cheaper, lighter, has better screen, better battery life, and has the dock option.  There’s no question as to which one wins.

Iconica is a good alternative when stock of transformer is low and you dont care about keyboard
