Just when they thought they’d been neglected, HTC Droid Incredible 2 users have been given a breath of fresh air in the form of a leaked Gingerbread RUU image for non-rooted devices. Yes, you heard that right, this leaked RUU is geared towards non-rooted devices and will give you a sneak peak at the Gingerbread update coming for the Droid incredible 2.
The image is available in a rooted form but is of little value to anyone until the AlphaRevX team releases their secret rooting method for your devices. so unless your lucky enough to be one of the in crowd and have the root method already, you need to stick with the non-rooted RUU.
There are issues you should be aware of; If you install the RUU file to your device, you won’t be able to use the root method once its released from the AlphaRevX team.
This leaked RUU features:
- Android 2.3 “Gingerbread”
- Compass orientation is now detected correctly
- Notification LED settings are now correctly applied
- Get More HTC Widgets now included
- Smart dialer now functions correctly
- Calendar app accurately displays birthdays now
You can download the RUU file anytime you like, but I would suggest you go and read the entire article on AndroidPolice before you do. They have a thorough guide and information with videos to give you more information and the usual precautionary statements.

Here is my experience with this update. First you can’t disable auto retrieve on the stock SMS and the front facing camera went from 1.3 Megapixel to 1 Megapixel. I will try it for a while then maybe find a downgrade to the stock version.
