As soon as HTC announced that they were going to lock all future bootloaders on their devices, the community started pressuring them to reconsider. After only a couple of weeks, HTC gave in to the pressure of the community and stated that all future devices would feature unlocked bootloaders.
Along came the HTC Sensation. One of the first devices to be released after these statements had been made, but the phone was released with a locked bootloader. We can only presume that the device had been made prior to the unlocked bootloader statements. HTC stated they would release an update for the phone that would unlock the bootloader and give access to the community developers.
The phone has been out for a number of weeks now and there is still no sign of an update, but do we care?
This hasn’t stopped the community from continuing to mod device regardless. #TeamWin already provided a temp root guide, but this meant that with each reboot, root access was lost. Yesterday, Eugene373, one of the community’s prominent developers, released an update to the #TeamWin temp-root that allowed root to be retained, even after a reboot. Today he has released an update that fixes some of the shortfalls of the original release, and has fixed the issues related to overclocking and keeping the system partition read-write.

Wrong. #teamwin is working on a custom bootloader and recovery as we speak.
