I was unaware that some device running Android 2.3 were not able to enjoy the beauty of the CRT screen on and off animations. Apparently there are a bunch of you that are suffering. For that I am truly sorry! As usual though, I have found the solution to the problem. Not on my own of course, but thanks to a very generous man by the screen name of Webst3r at RootzWiki.
Since I am currently running the CM7 ROM, I am unable to confirm nor deny the process works or not. Beyond Netflix support, the CRT animation was the only other reason I wanted 2.3 myself.
Here is the short list of what you will need in order to get started,
APK Manager
A .zip manager (I suggest 7-zip)
A text editor (I’ll be using Notepad++)
A framework-res.apk that you want to modify
Once you have all of that up and running, head on over to Webster’s post to see a screenshot and for full instructions on how to finish the process.

why the hell would they take out little feature like this,
Because they are inconsiderate pricks.
Because they are inconsiderate people. Obviously.
im maho…
And CRT stands for? (Surely not Cathode Ray Tube).
