Meporter Launches new app: Meporter, be the reporter you always wanted to Be

Our good buddy @Stericson, and his company, meporter, have just released their latest project to the Android Market. It is called Meporter and offers a lot to a very large community. He states that it is out but still an early release, so you may encounter a few bugs here and there. What is you ask? Lets take a look-

Meporter is a news app that lets you write, photograph and video local news.Everyone knows that nothing gets stale as fast as yesterday’s news.
Welcome to Meporter, a location-based news app that enables you to
write, photograph and video your local news as it breaks. But that’s not all.
Meporter makes the stories available to anyone in the world with a mobile
phone or an Internet connection.

Right off the bat you can tell how amazing this application is going to be. We are all familiar with the local news station apps that let you do similar things. Nothing like this exists that I am aware of. Being able to get the latest and breaking news from around your area and world wide is going to keep you from watching the 10 o’clock news. The sheer volume of world wide Android users will easily keep you up to date on what is REALLY happening. Cause lets face it, news as a main stream media is kinda fizzling. I used to watch the news and the weather. Now I have my phone for it.

When you witness breaking news – anything from weather to traffic, from
nightlife to local politics, from a hot new restaurant to a cool new real
estate opportunity – simply use your Android Phone or Tablet to take a
picture or make a video, write up your story, add a headline, and post it for
the world to see.

When you post local news on Meporter you earn rewards (i.e. Press
Passes) for posting your first story, posting to specific categories and
more. Be a newsie, collect Meporter press passes and gain street cred.

I don’t even know what to say. This is an app that EVERY SINGLE ANDROID USER NEEDS TO HAVE AND USE! Yes I really did all caps on that. Don’t install it because it’s Stericson’s companies app. Install it because you might help catch a criminal, save a life, avoid disaster or help someone find something cool to do when they are bored. Like the video says, “If it’s important to you, then it’s probably important to someone else.”
