Samsung teams up with TI to make a projector Device

4

Now this is the cool stuff I like to see. Texas Instruments DLP teamed up with Samsung to build a device that they are calling the Samsung Beam. It is an Android based phone/projector. Located in the top of the device you can see TI’s pico projector technology build right in. It is not a high-end device like we are used too seeing come out of Samsung, but it does offer a unique feature. The projector is supposed to be able to project an image of 5″ to 50″ in size and has built in speakers. It will allow you to project videos, pictures, documents and anything else you can think of.

Although adding the projector inside a cell phone does increase its thickness considerably, I feel like it has a place in our world. If they kick in some good hardware and ICS there is a good chance that this could take off. It still needs some work before we see this type of device go full bore into the market, but I sure as heck wouldn’t mind having one for camping trips. Take a look at short video that was shot at the Android BBQ.

Time for an update. I am the proud father of three, 2, 8, and 11. I finally just moved up from the Samsung Vibrant to the Samsung Galaxy S III...... Let me tell you, it is mind blowing. I love Android, I love tech and I love my family. Not in that order though. I work to hard, play even harder and take care of all that are around me when I can.

Yeah, isn’t the Beam ancient? On another note, is that the pico- projector is saw briefly in that Android BBQ video recently?
