After multiple attempts from various government bodies to analyse and block the potentially monopolistic merger between AT&T and T-Mobile, it’s now reported that AT&T has withdrawn it’s FCC application in it’s attempt to takerover merge with T-Mobile and dominate the GSM cell phone market in the US. We only recently reported that industry predictions were very low for the probability of this merger going through, and now it looks like they may be coming true.
TheVerge reported early this morning that after the FCC requested a formal administrative hearing into AT&Ts ambitious takeover of T-Mobile, AT&T decided to withdraw their application from the FCC to focus on the DOJ lawsuit first. While this is a big step backwards, it may be the last we hear of the merger.
Some of you may be happy about this desicion, but what you have to consider is that T-Mobile USA’s parent company Deutsche Telekom has made it clear that they are no longer interested in the US operations and would still like to remove T-Mobile USA from its inventory. This means that T-Mobile USA still needs to find another company to partner with or spin off into it’s own company.

Google needs to buy T-Mobile and blow our fucking minds, or T-Mobile branch off to a new company name and spend our money and make the network better, tired of this shit
+1 on a Google takeover, G-Mobile would be awesome.
I’ve been saying since the merger was first announced that allowing AT&T to have full reign of the GSM market in the US would be extremely bad.
You mentioned that Google should buy T-Mobile. I agree with that a lot. Here’s why.
Given that Google recently purchased the mobile division of Motorola, they could be in the running for the next Nexus device.
Add T-Mobile to the mix and rename it to G+Mobile, they would have at least a test platform for the next Nexus device.
There’s other possible wins for the customer as well if Google were to buy T-Mobile. We could have cheaper phone bills, causing the other carriers to lower their rates. We could have Google’s fiber network linking the towers for faster links to the content we love to consume. It could also put Clearwire/Clear out of business by utilizing the fiber network to provide wireless internet to homes on the high end HSPA or a new LTE network.
The possibilities are just about endless. It would save current T-Mobile employee jobs. Everyone knows that T-Mobile’s customer service is the best in the industry. If my above thoughts were to happen, this would create jobs, not take them away.
It doesn’t require a huge brain to work for Google. It mostly requires efficiency, which T-Mobile has. They just need better management. Some from Google and Motorola Mobility could make the big plan the make this happen.
Google + Aneroid + Moto + Tmobile would be killer.
That is an interesting idea. It would be a perfect purchase for Google.
