Nothing is better about Android than having options. That is exactly what you get with the latest release of the Meizu MX. In case you haven’t stayed in the loop on the China front, this would be the follow up device to the Meizu M9. Which was a pretty popular device over seas. There are a number of kickers to this device that make it extremely appealing. The first being that there will be a dual-core version and a quad-core version available. The dual-core version will sporting a Samsung Exynos 4210 chip at 1.4GHz, 4-inch “AVS” display at 960 X 640, 1GB of LPDDR2 RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Lets not forget the 8MP f/2.2 rear camera with flash along with the .3MP front facing camera as well as the secondary noise canceling microphone. All packed into a device that is 10.3mm thin with a 1500mAh battery.

Sounds pretty appealing already. Even though device is launching with Android2.3.5, CEO Jack Wong has also announced that the MX will be receiving an update to ICS in the very near future. In the image you might think that the button in the center might be an optical track pad, it is not. It is just a single home button instead.

The dual-core version will be hitting China January 1st and be rocking a $470 price tag. Which is a pretty descent price for full cost. The quad-core version won’t be landing until sometime later next year. They also have plans to get the MX shipped across the ocean at some point and make them available for us little Americans, but no dates have been mentioned yet.

Calling all dreamers, the Meizu MX is unveiled

HONG KONG-9:30 AM GMT +8, October 6-Today Meizu unveils a new product, the Meizu MX. Borrowing the first two letters from the Chinese characters of the word “dream,” or “meng xiang,” the MX is a dream phone in all its senses. The MX comes with a dual-core 1.4GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 8 megapixel back-illuminated camera and LED flash, along with a gyroscope and other sensors. Its design is clean, intuitive and minimalistic, which is the result of countless discussions, prototypes, and revisions.

The Meizu MX has a gorgeous 4-inch, high resolution (292 PPI) AVS screen with the ideal 3:2 aspect ratio. Compared to wider 4.3-inch screens, the screen edges are easily reachable with your fingers, while providing better readability for text; both in horizontal and landscape mode. In addition, the phone comes with Meizu’s unique Flyme OS, which features a custom designed UI, as well as cloud services such as data syncing, music store (China-only), and an applications market. The Meizu MX also features a Meizu-only innovation, namely our patented situation-aware bottom light keys.

MX offers ample connectivity and media sharing options such as a micro USB port, coaxial digital audio output, MHL, USB Host and other features.

A 16GB version of the MX will be available January 1, 2012 priced at 2 999 CNY.

With the MX, Meizu is taking its first steps into the international market. Meizu is opening a store later this month in Hong Kong, on Sai Yeung Choi Street, Mong Kok.
