Remember the other day when I told you an update was brewing for the Facebook for Android application? Well, said update has now arrived and is available for the taking. I find this humorous, as Google+ for Android updated today too, showing no signs of the social network wars slowing down any time soon. If you’re wondering what’s inside the FB update, let’s have a quick rundown, shall we?
First up is a major overhaul to the UI, bringing forth an easier navigation experience for users. Now, you can easily get to your groups, apps, pages, and settings with a single press. Improvements to search have been implemented as well, letting you search through friends, subscribers, apps, and pages.
Facebook also threw in a revamped photo viewing experience that lets you see your friends tags on pictures and zoom in and out. The notification system has been upgraded to provide real-time alerts when you have an awaiting notification. And, (get ready for this one) you can now play games and access all your favorite apps from your Android phone — hooray, right?
Two last things, and I’ll be done talking your ear off — if you already have a “Timeline”, you can now access it with the Facebook for Android application, and you can now access friends’ lists and subscriptions.
OK, I promised I wouldn’t rattle your ear off, so I’m done. The link awaits below. You know what to do. Add me on Facebook if you feel so inclined.
