OK, so we’re a bit late to the party on officially announcing this, but that’s because we wanted to take our time to make sure we have everything ready for public viewing. We’re proud to announce that you can now subscribe to AndroidSPIN on Google Currents, the search engine giant’s new Flipboard competitor. If you’re unfamiliar with this app, Nick did a review a couple of days back that you might want to check out.
While some may argue that Currents only adds to Google fragmentation, I commend Google for this wonderful app and I enjoy the heck out of it. My only complaint is that it seems to take a while to sync my editions, even on WiFI (anyone else experiencing this?) Aside from that, I’m anxious to see future updates to this promising magazine-style newsreader. Now, without further adieu, let’s have a look at the AndroidSPIN edition, shall we?
The first thing you’ll see when opening our edition is the front page. This is basically the cover for our online “magazine. At the top of your screen, you’ll see our nifty logo, followed by a featured post. Clicking on the image of the featured post opens up the article, and you can thumb from right to left to flip through the entire article.
Back on the Currents home screen, underneath the featured post, you’ll see the beginning of our various sections. Inside of our edition, you’ll find the following categories:
- News — This one’s obvious. Here, you’ll find the latest and greatest news postings from the AndroidSPIN crew.
- YouTube — Have you been keeping up with The Mandroid Show? With this section, you’ll be able to keep track of every episode, as well as catch any other groovy YouTube stuff we may post.
- Community — This is the section you’ll want to go to for all the latest community news. Contests, giveaways and other fun stuff will be featured here, so you won’t want to overlook our Community tab.
- Guides and How-To’s — It is our mission to find the absolute coolest hacks and mods that can be applied to your Android device. But, what good are hacks and mods without detailed instructions on how to use them? Check this tab for all the info you’ll ever need.
- Hardware — Looking to buy a new Android phone, tablet or other device? We’ll be giving you the rundown on all things hardware-related here, so you won’t miss out on a single thing when you subscribe to AndroidSPIN.
- Software — Are Android applications your forte? We scour the Internet to find the absolute best software offerings and this is where we post them (see a trend here?)
- ROMs — Last, but not least, we’ve even thrown in a section for all the latest custom ROM info from Community Release. We take the hassle out of searching for ROMs and deliver them right to your doorstep — service with a smile style.
By now, you’re probably wondering how to get in on all this action, right? I figured as much. All you have to do is install the Google Currents application from the Android Market and click the link below on your mobile device.
