Show of hands — who likes experimenting with new homescreen launcher applications on their Android device? Just as I suspected, there’s a ton of you. Lightning Launcher, from PierroX, is one that I’d like to bring to your attention. This minimalistic app is possibly the speediest launcher on the Market. While, it may be intended for older devices which don’t have a ton of extra RAM to spare, Lightning Launcher is a nice addition to any Android phone, especially if you’re looking for a straight-forward experience with none of the extra razzle-dazzle that other launcher apps offer.
You won’t find any impressive 3D transition effects here — the goal here is to offer a quick and easy way to navigate through your applications, and Lightning Launcher does just that. By eliminating all those extra special effects, you’ll be conserving more memory while saving battery life. The .apk is also relatively small, weighing in at only 146k. This means you’ll also be saving storage space on your device, so you’ll have more room for the things you really want to download.
Even with the removal of all the extra unwanted effects, there’s still room for a bit of customization with Lightning Launcher. The application settings allow you to configure the look and feel of your homescreen. You can roll with icons and application names, just icons, or just application names. You can also choose wallpapers and custom fonts, so while this app may be “minimalistic”, there are still a few options for those who can’t help but tinker.
If you’re tired of hearing me talk about it, and you’re ready to give Lightning Launcher a go, hit the link below to proceed to the Android Market.

Its cool and straight to the point. Takes alittle while to figure how to changes certain things. Thanks the tips
No problem. It’s definitely straight to the point, which is something many people look for.
Hey great launcher. I was wondering your thoughts about the MyTouch phones. I also had the G1 then G3, and unfortunately I have the LG G2x – well according to every post online, it is about the worst smartphone ever made.. although I like it just fine other than minor screen blackout problem during calls where I have to use the keypad… But I am curious about why you purchased the Mytouch 4G… my experience with the G1 (slide) and the G3 was that MyTouch phones were the worst piece of technology I have ever come across as well as being the most frusterating… max of maybeeee 8 applications before the phone ran so slow it wasn’t even worth using anymore.. G3 was much much worse than the G1. I am a college student for Multimedia and Design Production and Video and Web Production as well. Just curious if this be the reason you created the Lightning Launcher? and if so… why would you purchase the G4?
Oh sorry Tony, first time on this page. I see you are the author, not developer… =0) sry about that!
