Samsung looking to corner all markets with one device, Galaxy S II Duo headed to China First

I remember back when I worked at T-Mobile I had a number of people wanting to get a second SIM card so they could have a work number and a personal number. Of course that just wasn’t possible back then, or technically now without an app or call forwarding. To add more fuel to the fire, switching carriers that would render your much-loved GSM device useless on a CDMA network left other people a little sour. Samsung is apparently thinking the same things.

They announced the Galaxy Y Duos and Galaxy Y Pro Duos just the other day, and the subject was rather interesting. Since neither of those devices are all that sought after, we sort of just read about it and moved on. Today though, they have the Galaxy S II Duo floating around the web. Now this is a device that I could see selling like hot cakes. It will feature both GSM and CDMA2000 radios in one device. I am sure that will increase the price tag a bit, but this will kill any and all cross over issues ever faced. I am not positive if you would be able to have both active at the same time and essentially have 2 numbers from 2 carriers or not, but if so it would be really friggin cool. You imagine keeping your personal account on T-Mobile, while having your work number and account through Verizon. best of both worlds if you ask me.  The SGS II Duo will still house all the usual inner works like the 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 4.52″ Super AMOLED screen and your cameras. The device will ship with Gingerbread 2.3 but easily be in line for an Ice Cream Sandwich update.

I worked at T-Mobile for 5 years. I was the go to guy for Android phones and training. That passion didn't stop even after my departure from the company. I currently moved up from my MyTouch 3G to a Samsung Vibrant. A lot has changed in a very short time. I look forward to all the latest and greatest every time I wake up.
