[Video] Verizon Galaxy Nexus to get 4G LTE toggle in CyanogenMOD 9?

2

Hey, all you Verizon Galaxy Nexus owners. If you’re even remotely interested in the CyanogenMOD 9 project for your phone, which I’m sure more than a few of you are, you might want to direct your attention to the video clip that’s making rounds across the Internet today. In this quick, 1-minute clip from , you can clearly see the toggle in action, switching the device between 4G LTE mode and 3G mode, using a notification bar-integrated toggle. Gsarrica states in the description of the video that the toggle is “hopefully coming soon to a build near you”.

With the Android source code being picked apart by the CyanogenMOD team, it’s starting to look like nightly builds will be popping up for a handful of devices, hopefully within the next month or so. Of course, we all know the first rule of CyanogenMOD — do not ask about ETA’s, so it looks like we’ll be waiting in anticipation with the rest of the free world. If you’ve got a minute to spare (55-seconds, to be exact), check out the video below. Just one more reason why CyanogenMOD is the best thing to happen to Android since Android itself.

Android addict would be the two words I would use to describe myself. It’s the first thing I check in the morning, and the last thing I check before bed. I’m 30 years old, my first Android phone was the G1, shortly after its launch. I have also owned a myTouch 3G, and I have a myTouch 4G, which I am absolutely in love with. Other than Android, I’m a father, brother, college student, and almost-full-time employee at a local brewery/restaurant here in the cornfields of Iowa. If there’s anything you’d like to know, please feel free to hit me up. I’m a pretty nice guy, and I respond as quickly as I can. Thanks for stopping by!

No offense, but who the hell cares? How slow is the news that something like a ROM’s inclusion of a toggle switch for the 4G radio makes it all over the place? Such a waste of a page.

It all good. It is actually a very requested feature and option. There is no toggle available to switch this on and off easily. Having a simple toggle to do so will save a ton of battery and make it easier than going through the settings every time you want to do it. Especially if you are in a 4G area that tends to be spotty. Turning 4G off saves the device a lot of battery consumption while searching for that 4G connection all the time.
