CES 2012: Senseg…Taking the “Touch” in Touchpad to a whole New Level

How amazing would it be to be playing on your tablet, and while playing a game or looking at the surfaces of a picture and you thought, “It would be awesome if I could actually feel the surface texture of this”. Well looks like that crazy thought that you probably have never had, is coming into a reality. Senseg turns your tablet experience into one you will be truly amazed by.

What Senseg does is brings whatever surface that is displayed on your tablet to life. If what you are looking at is a surface of a rock with some ridges in it, it will feel just like that. As you move your finger up and down the screen, you feel the texture and every little bump and ridge that is on the surface. This is accomplished by a sophisticated haptic system that does not change the screen but just kind of creates the surface using electrostatic vibration. It is pretty complicated to explain what is exactly is being done here. I would suggest visiting the Senseg website to watch demo videos and get amazed.

This technology is said to be built into to tablets or what not, hopefully in a year, and it will be up to the manufacturer to put this technology into their devices. So we will be seeing this on all sorts of tablets and even iPads if Apple decides to bring down their ego just a little bit and welcome someone else’s technology to their products. Check out the video below. Stormy got to play with one over at CES. When he was telling about Senseg, he even had a tough time explaining what was going on here. When I first saw the video I just thought he was killing time playing with a random tablet.
