If you’re wondering what is in store for the future of mobile gaming, how does in-game voice chat on the Android gaming platform, without the need for WiFi sound? If you’re like me and you think it sounds amazing, it looks like this will soon be a reality thanks to a new partnership recently announced by Verizon and Gameloft to enable voice chat over Big Red’s 4G LTE network for certain games in their Android portfolio. Word on the Web is that the first game to get in on this action should be Asphalt 6, Gameloft’s popular new racing game with graphics and gameplay that are both incredibly smooth (I was lucky enough to get it for dirt cheap during the 10-cent app promo).

Anyone familiar with online gaming knows the importance of voice communication, especially in team-based games where you need to work together to complete an objective. This is one piece of functionality that has, up until now, been lacking from the Android gaming platform and will certainly come as a welcomed addition for Verizon customers.
