Bring your love of Ubuntu to your Transformer Prime

The achievements that the developing community can achieve is absolutely remarkable. Opening up a site like XDA is like coming down the stairs as a kid on Christmas morning. There always seems to be some wonderful present just waiting for you to open up.

For those of you out there that like to hack away and try everything you can get your hands on, then the latest install for the Transformer Prime might be of interest to you. We have seen a number of devices receive windows ports and Ubuntu ports in the past. Most of which have been on handsets. That is more fun than anything else. Attempting to run a PC based OS on such a small screen is almost pointless. Moving that same capability to a tablet that has some serious horsepower and a keyboard dock makes a lot more sense.

XDA forum member zedomax has taken some time to show you guys how to install Ubuntu to your rooted Transformer Prime. He states that it does run faster in shell than the Galaxy Tab 10.1, but that running Gnome via VNC has its limits.

But people who just want Ubuntu running alongside Android (without breaking it) and run Ubuntu apps in the background such as an Nginx web server and whatnot, this could be a great way

Zedomax not only outlines how to download and install Ubuntu, he also made a very nice YouTube video of the process for those of us that are more visual learners.

To take a closer look at the process and to get the files, head over to zedomax’s XDA Thread. To get the full rundown with thoughts, pics and written instructions, check out his post on androlinux.com.

I worked at T-Mobile for 5 years. I was the go to guy for Android phones and training. That passion didn't stop even after my departure from the company. I currently moved up from my MyTouch 3G to a Samsung Vibrant. A lot has changed in a very short time. I look forward to all the latest and greatest every time I wake up.
