 New Google Privacy Policy 2012

Google announced on its official blog  today that some substantial changes  are on the horizon in regards to the current privacy policies and terms of service the company already has in place. Google now maintains over 70 privacy documents to cover all of its different products. As you can imagine, keeping track of this many detailed documents is a very daunting task, so the search engine giant has decided to take a different approach — one that will help them to create a ”beautifully simple, intuitive user experience across Google”.

As of March 1, 2012, Google will combine the majority of its privacy policies into one new main policy that will explain what information Google collects and how that information is used in a much more readable way. The new policy will cover more than 60 of Google’s apps, including the company’s Android apps. The rest of the apps not included under the main privacy policy will remain separate privacy notices for legal and other reasons.

Furthermore, Google is also trimming down its terms of service — you know, those things you agree to without ever reading the first paragraph? Once these changes go into effect, if you were to turn over a new leaf and actually want to read all the legal garb,  the terms of service have been re-written to make them easier to read and slimmed down to lower the total number of separate terms of service.

Android addict would be the two words I would use to describe myself. It’s the first thing I check in the morning, and the last thing I check before bed. I’m 30 years old, my first Android phone was the G1, shortly after its launch. I have also owned a myTouch 3G, and I have a myTouch 4G, which I am absolutely in love with. Other than Android, I’m a father, brother, college student, and almost-full-time employee at a local brewery/restaurant here in the cornfields of Iowa. If there’s anything you’d like to know, please feel free to hit me up. I’m a pretty nice guy, and I respond as quickly as I can. Thanks for stopping by!
