Android powered Samsung Galaxy Camera, is it Real?

We could be very close to seeing the first viable Android powered camera. According to AndroidAndMe Samsung has filed patents with the USPTO for a product called the Samsung Galaxy Camera. If this is indeed true who better to bring us an Android powered camera than Samsung. With their vast knowledge in Camera’s and Android it only seems the right mix to produce a functional and viable product. I know what you’re thinking, I already have a great 8mp shooter on my smartphone. Indeed cell phone cameras get better every year, but seriously they will not replace a good camera with rich optics.

The integration of the Android OS is not clear here but I can imagine social network integration will be one of the selling points for this camera. Being able to snap great shots and sharing to your social stream or upload to cloud services seems to be a natural way to go for a product like this. But I digress. All we have at this point is a patent filing and no actual product, so maybe we shouldn’t get too ahead of ourselves. But it’s oh so fun to think of what can be done, isn’t it? Hit the link for more on this story.
