Beats ear buds to be pulled from HTC devices going Forward

5

When HTC bought controlling share in Beats Audio I got rather excited. The technology is great, as long as you have a great set of headphones to pair up with them. In the beginning a set of Beats earbuds were made available in the HTC devices box sporting the Beats branding. That is no longer going to be the case. We now know that T-Mobiles upcoming HTC One S device will not include a set of ear buds in the box. This is sad news to some. Seems this will be the norm going forward with HTC and Beats.

“An accessory like the headphone doesn’t factor in when someone is buying a smartphone,” Martin Fichter, an HTC product executive, told CNET. “If they want a Beats headphone, they’ll buy it directly.”

The Beats Audio branding was supposed to be a selling point on HTC devices going forward. While the software will still be available in the Beats branded devices, earbuds will have to be purchased separately in order to enjoy it.

We wonder, how do you feel about this? Was the potential inclusion of a set of Beats earbuds a deciding factor for you to pick up a new HTC device? Are you more focused on what the device does and looks like than the sound quality from your in-box earbuds?

I am the proud father of three, 3, 9, and 12. I recently upgraded from the Samsung Galaxy S3 to the Sony Xperia Z. Having so many kids warranted a change of pace. Let me tell you, it is mind blowing. I love Android, I love tech and I love my family. Not in that order though. I work hard, play even harder and take care of all that are around me when I can.

Wow …really ..so we paying for these cellphones 500 600 dollars and no headphones….that is some bullshit….they should some of us have real jobs we don’t sell drugs to buy these phones.
    #getting tired of HTC bullshit

Michael a very dumb decision, a pair of beats headphones goes for about $100. I would never purchase these directly, therefore I would never buy an HTC device with beats as it would be useless to me

I was going to buy the Rezound when it came to VZW simply for the fact that they were matching the Beats Audio earbuds with the phone. I figured since I listen to so much music that getting the package deal would be the best thing for me. The only reason I did not pick up the Rezound, sometimes kicking myself in the butt, is I simply did not like the very “warm” appearance of the images from the camera.

So to hear this I am sad. I was ready to run out and buy whatever HTC One device that comes to VZW the day it came out because of the new camera and the Beats Audio programming and ear buds. Might still pick one up, but I guess I will see once I mess with which version comes to Verizon…

HTC never gave it a chance, the only phone in the US was the Rezound wasnt it for the Beats. Hell you already pay 600 for a damn phone mise well throw something in, christ. They needed to advertise more, no one knows HTC and beats are together let alone shipped. Now they will never know.

Don’t be toolbags, the phones with Beats by Dre also include enough hardware, technology, licensed peices to justify a 600 dollar price, off contract. You are silly if you think you’re entitled to having it any cheaper, the fact that they got you spoiled on their product, gettin you to complain just makes it that more wonderful to watch you come crawling back after you experience the PITA that is MOTO and SAMSUNG. LG even, I have seriously not had a more compatible phone with custom ROMs than my original G1, the Evo’s I’ve gotten to work with all ran root like champs, and some phones allowed the Beats framework to be loaded onto the phone in order to provide “bass-centric” DSP, unlike the crisper clearer CM DSP settings, which do not sound better, just different. My point is, tldr, that you guys should not be complaining that not enough free stuff comes with your phone. If you don’t want to pay, don’t buy it. You can afford to buy something else, live within your means.
