Android Jelly Bean confirmed as 4.1, Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ first device to see it Live

We are all Android-a-holics, maybe Google-a-holics. No matter which term you want to use we are all sick. Instead of being happy with what we have and what is out we spend all our time looking for the next big thing, the next update or what the next OS version is. We are all guilty of it. There have been plenty of rumors, hints and talks about two different terms. One being Jelly Bean and the second Android 4.1 and 5.0. We all know Ice Cream Sandwich is 4.0.x. What we never knew was if Jelly Bean would be Android 4.1 or 5.0. Some time ago it said to be confirmed as Android 4.1, but with out real proof beyond an inside source, we kept waiting.

Well, now we have proof in form of a screenshot linked to a purchase for the Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ device via the Play Store. As you can see, it clearly shows a small little tid bit of information that makes everyone assumptions truth. You can see it lists Android 4.1 Jell…. Jelly Bean. It is great to finally have that mystery solved. It does however, create more questions. It mentions ‘soon the first phone’ running the new OS. Interesting to note the mention of this on the HSPA+ version of the device. In our eyes that means Verizon is pretty much out of the loop at first, if not entirely. It also implies that Jelly Bean will be an update and not accompany a new phone launch. Not that it is a big issue. It should also put Google in line to launch the Nexus 7 tablet with Android Jelly Bean as the first tablet though and we should be seeing that at Google I/O, we hope. Now, when is the update going to start hitting devices and when will it land as open source for the developers. If it is announced at Google I/O we expect it to be starting pretty soon.

Time for an update. I am the proud father of three, 2, 8, and 11. I finally just moved up from the Samsung Vibrant to the Samsung Galaxy S III...... Let me tell you, it is mind blowing. I love Android, I love tech and I love my family. Not in that order though. I work to hard, play even harder and take care of all that are around me when I can.

There’s no reason why Jelly Bean shouldn’t arrive on my Nexus S. It better. And the 5 Nexus devices coming in November better blow the Galaxy Nexus out of the water. I may just have to settle on buying a new phone every damn year.

Im with you there. If you keep waiting for the best phone to come out, you’ll always be waiting. Im the same way, sooner you have to take a plunge and grow with your new phone till your behind the other guys with there top of the line phones 4 months later. I just got the Galaxy Nexus, love the phone, but I kno HTC One overpowers mine, but its ok, cuz the nexus is still a very fast and high end phone. Maybe by the end of next year ill upgrade. You’ll go broke if you upgrade every 6 months, unless you make 100,000/year

I call BS!!! I just went to the Play store, filled a cart and went to checkout and NO WHERE does it give any additional description about the phone being the latest from Google or anything. It just says “Galaxy Nexus” so I’m starting to think someone just photoshopped that pic to get people talking. Sucks but is most likely true, no new Android OS’s will be seen anytime soon.
