Nexus 7 sales delayed at Office Depot, no rescheduled date Yet

3

You have to love last-minute decisions. They mess everyone’s day up. This now also includes everyone that has pre-order  the new Nexus 7 tablet, at Office Depot. Maybe you should open up Google Calendar for July 12, because it looks like the retailer has halted its sales of Google’s new, flagship tablet.

Email notifications were sent out to representatives today to alert them of the date cancellation. According to the digital notice, retailers are forbidden to sell or even display the Nexus 7 tablets. Pre-ordered devices, will be placed on backorder status until Office Depot can get their story straight.

There have been confirmation that both GameStop and Staples stores have gotten approved shipments of the tablet, which will be on sale July 12. However there is still no word on when customers that pre-ordered their Nexus 7, in the Play Store, will receive their “bundle of joy”.

And maybe people who placed their pre-order will turn up at Office Depot after all. Probably because they didn’t read this article, or perhaps they are going to start an “Office Depot Shopper Militia” and frighten local retailers. Go get em!

What do you think of Office Depot’s cancellation? Do you think there is something happening “behind the scenes”? I would love to hear your comments.

It’s pretty obvious that Google isn’t allowing the tablet to be sold in stores for a reason. It’s not Office Depot’s fault; they were scheduled to sell on the 12th but then Google must have contacted them saying not to. Blame Google, not OD.
