Verizon will NOT unlock the Galaxy S III’s bootloader, final decision

8

I think some of us knew it was “too good, to be true”. Does Verizon ever give freebies out to its customers? Hardly, almost ever. And this is one of those cases.

After much speculation as to whether or not the Verizon Galaxy S III would receive a software tool to unlock the bootloader, it will not be happening. And after all of the “sharades”, it seems like there was a misunderstanding with customer support. And no one hates this bogus material more than our good friend, David Pena.

When contacting customer support lines, of both Verizon Wireless and Samsung, representatives believed that the question being asked was “if the phone would be unlocked for GSM roaming support”. This is a big let down.

With the negative answer on the unecrypted bootloader, it looks like customers will be returning their devices, trading it in to buy the “developer edition”, or basically switching carriers.  But, in no time developers will be cracking the bootloader, and giving us “customized dreams”.

What do you think of Big Red’s decision to destroy human-kind with this decision? Will you be switching carriers? I would love to hear your “rioting” comments.

I have the experience of creating and writing Android news material for a year now. I found that the subject of Android is far more interesting, as you finally grasp the full intention of what is was really created for, open-source freedom software diversity. I currently sport a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, with the addition of JellyBean.

Glad we here on Tmobile don’t have to worry about all this foolishness. Plus 50gb of drop box is great too.

Exactly.. Just seems a bit silly.. I guess any press is good press. It sure leaves a bad taste in my mouth though. I personally will nver go with Verizon, even if they are the only carrier on the planet. I’d rather go without.

I thought about Verizon last year as T-Mobile was going thru a really bad year, but now Im looking forward to T’s future, atleast they have one mapped out and I cant be more excited. 2G converted into 4G!!!

You REALLY thought Verizon specifically locked it… just to later waste more time and money unlocking it????

Even casual phone techs (like myself) could have told you that was a fake rumor.

(I’m not surprised AndroidSpin bought it.)

I even believe in the previous article, I stated “it is hard to believe” of something of that matter. Please read the full article before “trying” to make an intelligent comment. Thanks!
