Great day for music lovers in the Android world, Spotify has decided to give US users free unlimited radio on their music streaming network. Before you used to have to have a premium Spotify account in order to stream the radio on your device. Looks like Spotify decided to be as nice to us as they were to the people on the iOS.
According to The Verge, the Spotify app was always coming in second when it came to most downloaded apps in the music section on iOS. As soon as they launched it with free unlimited radio, it jumped to the #1 spot, and downloads tripled. They are hoping this will happen on the Android platform as well. The app updated today, and Spotify is hoping they can bring the android version of their app up to par with the iOS version.
Now even though you can now listen to unlimited music, you will still not get all the features as the premium accounts do. Features such as, syncing your favorites and library will still need a premium account. Just like Pandora and all the rest of the music streaming apps, we have to listen to those God awful advertisements, but that is something we can endure for some free tunes. So if you have been waiting to download Spotify because of it’s “not so free” mentality on your device, get into the Play Store right now and get this awesome app on your phone.
