[APP OF THE WEEK] Pictarine – A universal photo stream

1

I have to say that this app is quite spectacular. And essentially it serves as one purpose, and one purpose only; to browse photo’s on multiple social-networks, on a single feed.

Now that may sound basic, but once you enter your credentials to your accounts, Pictarine displays all photos in a spectacular, “one universal stream”, displaying media for whenever friends and family share their memories. Yes it is an “all in one app” for photos.

What you can do with Pictarine

Pictarine is able to connect to social-networks such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, and even Flickr. All of these “profiles” basically combine into one, to give users a pleasurable atmosphere, without flicking through so many pages of content.

What is also cool, is that depending on the social-networking accounts you have linked, you will be able to favorite, comment, and ‘like’ certain photos. As seen in the video review, I followed Instagram, which allowed me to chat with others also viewing the same picture, posted on Twitter.

The developers over at Pictarine gave users the chance to add photos to “playlists”. This allows social networking junkies to organize their media, so that perhaps they can look at it on a later date.

And if you follow or “friend” people who post tons, upon tons of images, you have the option to block them from the stream. This action is reversible.

Why this is the “App of the Week”

I find Pictarine to be one of a kind. I used this smart little tool on multiple Android devices, including a Motorola Droid RAZR, Droid X, HTC Droid Incredible, and Samsung Galaxy Nexus. On all of those devices, Pictarine worked “beautifully”.

I found absolutely no flaws with the layout, as everything was easily accessible and useful. Transitions and animations were quite smooth, even with the “Screencast” app hogging up the CPU.

Nevertheless, there were no force closes in the hours of usage, and was enjoyable to navigate. I would, without a doubt, rate this as the “app of the week”.  Plus, with “free”, you rarely go wrong… well, some of the time…
