The T-Mobile G1 Says it wants some Jelly Bean and Gets It

10

I was wondering when someone was going to have the stones to port some Jelly Bean over to the one that started it all, the T-Mobile G1. The G1 has seen ports of every OS. We were all pretty surprised when it some ICS, and now it gets some chewy candy as well. It is amazing that we are able to still port over these ROMs to the historic phone, but I am always glad to see the old guy live on.

In the video below, the man responsible definitely  brings some flare to the video, and does not just show a brief little run through. Although when he does do a run through, you can see that the CM10 ROM runs VERY slow on the G1. Super laggy, but what do you expect from grandpa? I am glad to see the G1 one still fighting for Android life. Check out the video below and let us know what you think.

Been an Android nerd since the G1 days. I believe I hacked and flashed that phone into dust. Since then I jumped onto the G2 and now rocking the totally awesome HTC One S. I also host and produce The ManDroid Show every week and love talking Android to whoever wants to talk about it. Long Live Android!

Well remember this is not the actual Jelly Bean 4.1.1 update but a JB ROM made for the G1 and even it is barely working. If a dev out there cared about the S1 enough they could port JB over, just gotta find some1 who cares

I am also proud to say that i started my LOVE of Android on the T-Mobile G1 and I swear to God if I could go back and NOT sell that G1 to my buddy I would be the happiest guy around. I miss my G1, not that I would ever USE it but I’d keep it updated and keep it around just so I could remember where I came from. G1, MyTouch Slide, MyTouch 4G, Nexus S and now Galaxy Nexus. Android buddy, you’ve come a long way

I had bout the Nokia xpress music that summer of 2008, didnt get the whole android phone till i saw that Google/T-Mobile conference in NYC later that year and saw how cool the G1 and Android was. I didnt have money to get another phone but i played with that G1 at the store all the time. It wouldnt be till spring time 09, we heard about the upcoming Magic. August 2009, the day the Magic came out, I had to upgrade! my first android. HTC MyTouch 3G aka Magic, August 2009. Happy 3 years to me! Even thou i didnt have the G1, i wanted it, I still consider myself a Android OG.
