An image, the one you see above, was snagged out of the latest update to the Play Store. Which is slowly hitting devices as we write this. The image clearly shows an amazing screen that lets you enter a Gift card code to redeem for use in the Play Store. While the image is in the latest Play Store update, it isn’t opened up or available for use just yet. Heck, unless you decompile the apk you won’t even see it. The fact that it exists means that Google is laying the ground work to make it happen and hopefully it should be soon. With the holidays right around the corner Google needs to get it in out and working so you can ask grandma for Google Play Gift cards this year.
Buried inside the apk is also another section of code referencing “Wishlist”. This would be where any apps, games, movies, tv shows, book or magazines you really want can be saved. There are a couple of reason why this is cool. Often times I find something I want to buy but don’t, usually due to lack of funds in the bank. So I share it to myself in an email in hopes that I will remember to pick it up on payday. I usually forget. Having a running wishlist of things that I want to get will help me remember to buy them. Also, we have a sneaking suspicion that it will tie in very nicely with the Gift Cards. I personally have a sneaking suspicion that we will be able to share our wishlists in some fashion so people can buy us stuff. I know I have seen something similar somewhere before.
That is pretty much the biggest thing in the latest Play Store update that exists. As we said before, it is there, but you won’t see it yet. That isn’t going to stop you or me from installing the latest Play Store apk though. As always, you can find a simple little download link below to grab the latest update. We will be sure to stay glued to Google and as soon as they are ready to push out the full update with all the extras we will be sure to let you know.
