Mega Resolution, iPad beating, Nexus 10, and a $99 Tablet coming soon from Google

Google amazed the world when it release the Google Nexus 7 powerhouse Tablet with a $199 price tag, and it looks liek they are abot to do it again.

According to a reliable source at CNET, Google is about to start developing the Google Nexus 10 10.1 inch mega resolution tablet.  With a resolution of 2560 x 1600 and a pixel density of 299 ppi, topping Apple’s current display winner of 265 ppi with a resolution of 1048×1536 and a little smaller at 9.7 inches.

The other interesting news coming from the same CNET article is the new tablet will be co-branded with Samsung instead of ASUS as with the Nexus 7, furthering Google’s relationship with Samsung and continuing the Nexus line of devices.

They also mentioned that Google would start manufacturing a $99 tablet in the December time-frame but there were no indication what this tablet was going to be called or any specifications listed.

Are you excited yet?  I sure am.  The world of Android tablets is taking off like hot cakes and the world is changing.  Your workplace will be paperless before you know it.

  1. WOW! someone offers some advice to the writer, which he takes, but then he deletes the comments instead of giving credit. Bottle that up and cleanse women’s anatomy with it. Pure douche.

    • It’s ok, Pauly. Judging by the fact that they obviously weren’t very careful with my email address here, (or sold it) and and I have gotten over 169 spam, phishing or virus ridden messages since 6/29/2012 on the email address I use only for this site, I guess its time to find other news sources. ( https://dl.dropbox.com/u/7490029/androidspin.png ) If they cant openly take critique, then so be it.

        Richard:
Im guessing you don’t know much about AndroidSPIN and all the community VOLUNTEERS who try their hardest to bring you what we can when we can on our own time.
I’m shocked that you think we’d sell our viewers information, or phish your personal info from your computer.
I’d love to hear from any one of our other thousands of viewers to see if anyone else thinks we are to blame for any kind of spam.
I think either your personal information has been fished from your computer by other sites you are visiting, or you are using this same account somewhere else that is that has malicious intentions.

        • LOL Good cover. If you note in the screen shot that email address has ever only been exposed to one site. Yours. I never accused you of phishing, merely indicated that all I get on the email address that is used only for your web site is spam, phishing, and viruses as evidenced in the screen shot.

As for my own machine being compromised, the email address doesn’t even exist on my machine, so, sorry, it couldn’t have come from me. I create a custom email address for every site that requires I register for them, there is no benefit in the world to locking everything to one email address, these are virtual and simply forward into one address. This allows me to find sources of spam and security threads and isolate them back to the only place that address was used. There are 2 emails that were sent to this address but they exist only in gmail, so maybe you’re going to tell me google was hacked. Or perhaps a hacker broke into that google account and of the thousands of email addresses I have forwarded into that account they went back to 1/17/11 found the 2 emails from your site and picked ONLY your address, wow those are lottery odds. I find it far more likely that someone slipped into a virtual backdoor and pulled your user data. Which is why I will kill that address during my next maintenance cycle.

One last tip other than the grammatical one yesterday. Your “IT” person should have a randomly generated email address setup in the user info db that forwards to an email account that he and several others monitor, that email address should only exists in that user db. If it ever gets an email, then you know you have been compromised. Good luck.

Not sure if got my email, but as I said. thanks for the feedback, but we are not going to leave the threads full of comments about anything but the subject of the post.
It’s wonderful that you have the time to give constructive feedback, but I’m not too sure why you feel you need public credit.
If that’s what you want then why not come write for us.
In the meantime, if that’s what you want, can everyone please thank Paul for his feedback on this article that helped me improve the quality of the post title.

      • I received the enail and I did reply but may have gotten lost in a filter. Richard was the original comment to the post. I simply saw it, reaikzed changes were made, then saw his comment removed.

My workplace is full of iPads and Windows Laptops which I assume will start getting replaced by Windows 8 tablets soon but I seriously doubt Android will make any workplace paperless anytime soon. Other than the hardware (which is useless to businesses alone) what real productivity software do those Android tablets have that a true business professional can rely on?

    • Simon Walker says:

You’d actually be surprised what can be done.
I’ve been doing some experimenting at our office and have a test environment setup and working.
I have VPN access to the office documents on our servers so I can access my files inside or outside the workplace.
I have viewers installed to view PDF and 3D engineering files for Autocad documents.
We also have Autocad software installed to view machine schematics and make notes and updates to DWG files.
Granted that everything is in it early stages, but you’d be amazed what can be done with a little research and technical know-how.

Google is going to change the game by lowering the price for us so the competition will have to follow Apple, other Android tablet makers will need to do this to.. This is going to be major even if it’s only a dual core processor who cares? It will give you more options and persuade me to buy my kids als wh who wouldn’t which will resul which will result in more sales f more sales for Android overall helpin helping out everyone not everyone not just the people who can afford 6 700 dollars for 1 single tablet you know ?

    • Kevin says:

damn i love google, and i think you’re right. Lowering the amount of money having to be paid. Nowadays the economy is so shit not much people can afford some of these things.
and Google is just doing it right.

      • Greg says:

        Yeah.

That’s why netbooks are still around.

Oh… Never mind. They were replaced by Ultrabooks at 2X the cost but like 4X the functionality.

A $100 tablet is going to do nothing but get a tablet into the hands of more people (which isn’t a bad thing). Much like Android phones sell like hotcakes because the majority of them are free, I’m assuming Google is going to try that with tablets. But if tablets are really supposed to replace laptops, I don’t think people are going to want a $100 tablet that sacrifices so much to exist.

Apple never existed because of its price point. Apple has always been more expensive then competitors. People still flock to them because of the way they can mix Computing with the Liberal Arts to make beautiful pieces of machinery. Sure, this doesn’t apply to everyone, but neither does an unlocked phone that supports ROM’s being thrown onto it.

The people it will effect is other Tablet manufacturers. And it will effect them by probably making them leave Android for Windows 8 where a company isn’t absorbing so much cost to put out a $100 tablet. Google is turning into a company very similar to Apple. I would not be surprised if in the next 5 years, Google (through Motorola) and probably Samsung are going to be the only ones putting effort into Android phones. I suspect many manufacturers will jump to Windows 8 because of its appeal to consumers.
