Android and our Search for Superior Sound – I-Mego Throne

I-Mego Throne

Looking for the classical headphone looks?  The I-Mego might be just for you.  With plenty Gold and leather designed in the style of what I consider an old school look.  I-Mego have gone for a touch of style and a choice of sound.  They even throw in a nice amount of leather to finish off the overall design.

By choice of Sound, I mean the Thrones come in 2 flavors;

The Gold

These are the headphones I have on hand and are tuned for bold acoustics geared towards big bass for rock, R&B, or hip hop. The result is crystal clear audio with deep, powerful bass. The vents are gold in color with a black background.

The Poison

The poisons are styled with gunmetal and muted purple vents, and built for stand-out vocals and acoustics that suite classical or new age music. The result is claimed to be crystal clear audio with balanced audio response.

The Packaging

It seems a lot of these suppliers are sticking to the regular cardboard packaging and adding their own flair to the covers.  The I-Megos are no exception and come in rectangular box with a opening flap to reveal a clear windows showing the contents inside.

The Contents

Inside the box you’ll find the headphones laid into a molded plastic case.  There is a soft fabric case to place your headphones inside, but I can’t see it offering any real protection.  You’ll also find a HiFi adapter to plug these babies into your home stereo system, and an adapter to support different styles of mobile phones.  I’ll get more into these accessories as I start detailing out my reviews.

The Specifications

  • Driver Diameter: 40mm x 2
  • Frequency Response: 20 – 20,000Hz
  • Sensitivity: 105 +/- 5db
  • Impedance: 32ohms
  • Cable Length: 4ft (1.2m)
  • Connector: 3.5mm gold-plated stereo plug

Initial impressions is that will certainly gather attention I’m sure.  If you’re looking to get noticed and people asking “So what are those?”, the Thrones are surely for you.  The bright colors and funky classic styling make you look like you just walked out of a production studio.
