Members of the Android community have done it again by gaining root access on the unreleased Samsung Epic 4G. This device is not yet available to the public, but as you can see, some lucky folks who already have the device have already done it. I love it when an older device gets rooted, especially on a Friday. The Motorola BACKFLIP acquired root using the same method as the Motorola Droid 2. Since the Droid 2 root method derived from the Droid X's root method, I think we have something here. Maybe this same method will work on all Motorola devices. Root access has been obtained on the Motorla Droid 2. The guys over at XDA can check "root" off the list and now that step one has been owned, let's see if they can follow in the footsteps of the Droid X and get a custom recovery image on this device. Everyone remembers how much of a pain it was to root the G1\Dream: you had to downgrade to an earlier version to exploit a ridiculous bug which interpreted everything as superuser system commands. XDA member TGA_Gunnman has just posted up his one-click root application for the Samsung Captivate. This is good news and makes your life and gaining root a whole lot easier. We are all familiar with CyanogenMod by now, I hope. He and his team are probably the most widely know developers for bringing updates to phones that wouldn't normally ever see them, as well as making the OTA updates perform better. There are many advantages to rooting your device. One of my favorite, next to switching ROMs, is tethering. It has come in handy so many times on road trips.
