In these bittersweet times of amazing mobile devices and the lackluster batteries that power them, there’s one thing that most of us are always longing for — something to keep our phones and tablets juiced up enough to get us through the day. The Innergie PocketCell is an amazing product, just unveiled at CES 2012, which provides a simple, pocket-sized solution to this problem.

Now, you’re probably wondering which types of phones and tablets the PocketCell will work on and that’s what makes this battery charger stand out from the competition. Pull up a chair, kick your shoes off and let me explain it to you in full detail.

The Innergie PocketCell is a lightweight and small rechargeable battery bank that will charge or extend the life of nearly any mobile device. As you know, we’re an Android-based website, so this definitely appeals to us and our community; however, we’re also major general tech fans as well. Though my smartphone attention has been and always will be focused on Android, I have to admit I also own an iPod touch, so the fact that this will charge both platforms is an instant seller for me.

The 3000 mAh power capacity packs enough juice to charge an Android smartphone or iPhone twice and will juice up a tablet or iPad about halfway. This should be more than enough to get you through the day with even the heaviest of use — trust me, I know because my phone is always in my hand.

Now, on to the really amazing part (we’ve all seen portable charging solutions, so I know nobody is picking their jaws up off the floor just yet). The PocketCell uses the innovative Magic Cable Trio — a 3-in-1 charging cable with integrated smart-tip Apple, Mini, and Micro USB connectors, hence the device’s ability to charge over 10,000 portable devices. Even our good friends from the BlackBerry community can get in on this action.

The Yay

  • Rapid charging (both input and output)
  • Universal (Android/iOS/BlackBerry and more)
  • Lightweight

The Nay

  • I’m not a huge fan of the battery bank’s shape — it’s a bit too long and slender, as to where I prefer the battery bank to be shaped like a phone (thin and flat); otherwise, there isn’t much I can say negative about the PowerCell.

Want to Buy?

I don’t blame you — the PocketCell is worth every penny you’ll spend on it. Having been the guy working on the stand for CES I can say that every time I showed someone this product there was an instant WOW, not only for the connector but also for the home charger that does BOTH iPad and iPhone at the same time AND the Car Cahrger that does the same, iPhone and iPad (Or equally any other device with either of the three connectors. And then….the Pocket Cell that is simply a lifesaver, not just to give you charge to make a call but enough power to help you finish you day. All in all it’s the best reaction form a product I have personally presented in 15 years.
