Not long after Samsung‘s duo of flagship devices was announced, analysts predicted Samsung would sell 50 million handsets. Now, after a full week of global sales, Samsung is claiming that at least 70 million Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge handsets is an achievable target. Whether this is just a yearly target, or lifetime sales, isn’t known, but The Korea Times quotes Samsung Vice Chairman Kwon Oh-hyun as simply saying “The S6 should do well. The first week looks impressive.”

It’s all possible thanks to an incredible global interest in both the vanilla Galaxy S6 and curved S6 Edge – if there needs to be just one example of the intense fervour, the extreme popularity of these devices in Samsung’s native Korea should be it. The success of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge is especially crucial for Samsung who lost substantial ground to Apple and its fellow Android competitors due to the poor performance of its Galaxy S5, but it appears their fortunes have turned around.

75 to 80 Million will be easily done.

      Claims the Samsung fanboy.
Samsung had high expectations for their smartphone (S4, Note 3, S5, Note 4, Note Edge) sales numbers for the last 2 years, and definitely didn’t meet those.

You are talking about an entirely different ballgame, though. This is coming from a guy that thinks anything outside of the GNote series is absolute sh*t: The S6/S6 Edge are absolutely stunning. Samsung didn’t deliver cheap this year. For every whiner they lost that complained about the SD Card and battery, they gained two people coming from other OEMs. It’s going to be nothing for them to ship off 70M.

If… as an Android enthusiast… you say that the S6/S6 Edge are poor looking and spec’d devices, then you are just a novice fanboy yourself who probably is holding the balls of another OEM. I have had everything from HTC to LG to Samsung and if finances permit, I will absolutely get the S6 or the S6 Edge.

I tried the s6. What’s all the hype? The camera is amazing but too me, same old crap touchwiz. Battery is way too small and I didn’t think the device was that snappy. In fact I had my moto x with me and it seemed to do everything faster
