If you are rooted then you have probably or are currently, running a CyanogenMod build of Android. Even some of the other ROM’s out there are CM based and offer the theme chooser app built right in. Either way, you could probably use some themes to keep your Android addiction new and fresh. Team Carbon has your back in that category. They have been around for years and have created quite the portfolio of themes for you to choose from. Like these bad boys,

These themes aren’t just built exclusively for CM though. They will work on AOKP, Paranoid Android and any ROM that offers up the Theme Chooser app. That is, all the NextGen themes will. Then you have all the CM 7 themes. Not sure how many people are still running a CM build that old, but there might be some of you out there.

I have perused the 18 pages of themes they offer and see that some of them haven’t been updated with the new $0.99 special price, so you might have to check back on those. This special is running from now through the end of May. That should give you plenty of time to snag up a few at a good price tag. AOKP/CM10 THEME: Ingress. Theme your Phone After the Popular Game

The popular portal game, Ingress, certainly has made its mark in the Android world. I never bothered to give it a shot, simply because I probably would not get any work done if I did. With that though, a nice little developer by the name of giannisgx89 has brought the look of Ingress in a new AOKP/CM10 THEME. It does not bring you portals, but it sure does look pretty.

This theme will also work if you are still running CM9. It does cost $1.89 in the Play Store, but there is that 15 minute window where you can see if you like it or not. Let us know if you plan on downloading it, and how much you like it.

Hello Everyone,

Zachdroid back with one hell of a winner of a theme. I’ve run an incredible amount of roms, but never really ran a theme, save once or twice, until now. I was offered the opportunity to do a review on the very talented JaiThemes theme, Carbon Glass. This theme is slicker than a vaselined up pig on a rainy day in the south. I mean this is kicking. I remember first hearing about it on Jai’s timeline on twitter and thought it was a great prospect, then I proceeded to run a rom or 12 that didn’t offer theme chooser. At the moment I am on a CM10 build, fortunately with theme chooser and I think I’ve found my favorite theme…ever. I then got a little more adventurous and loaded up the Blue Ring Theme (running Nova Launcher/GO Launcher) in addition to the Carbon glass theme, and it completes the coolness. [CM9/AOKP Theme] Grunged Metal, a little heavy, a little dark a whole lot Awesome

Well here is something we have definitely been slacking on lately, themes. Ya, it has been a hard month around here and some things just get missed in the thought process for the daily postings. Hopefully we will be changing that again soon and start bringing more of the hidden goodies you all love so much.

While we all love the look of stock on our devices, a theme can give us a slight edge over our friends and really helps to personalize our devices even more. It is one of those things that really sets Android apart from its competition. Although, it is reserved for custom ROMs and not the stock from the manufacturer variety. Maybe one day they will learn. While cruising around our forums this afternoon, we came across Design Rifts Grunged Metal theme. Aimed at CM9 and AOKP ROM’s, but should work on anything with the Theme Chooser built in. We saw it once before and shared it out on our G+ page, but we thought it deserved a little special attention today. Not just because the general news is slow today, but because you all might be ready for a change in look. We could tell you all about how it looks, but pictures speak louder than words. So just take a look at a few screenshots from Design Rifts.

Looks pretty sick doesn’t it? The team offers up the theme in two forms. Your free choice gives you some of the design you see above it does not theme inside the apps or the icons, it is only the systemui and framework. The full paid version however, does offer up themed icons for apps, and inside the apps themselves. So we suggest you give the free version a go and see how you like it. [CM9/AOKP Theme] Jelly Bean has Come to your ICS ROM

Okay so, a majority of us have that jealousy of not being able to have Jelly Bean on our devices. Pretty much all of us not rocking a Galaxy Nexus or a Nexus 7 tablet. But we have done our best to try to make our devices look as Jelly Bean as possible. Well it is time to continue that with a new CM9/AOKP theme. Yes, we have Project Butter without the butter.

Here we have Ice Cream Jelly by Kyle Ladd. He has added the simple Jelly Bean theme tweaks to make your CM9/AOKP ROM just that much closer to buttery goodness. Not much more is themed really since Jelly Bean is not a huge step up from ICS. You get the themed Google Search bar, JB Wallpapers, and the JB style notification bar. Again, not much difference, but enough to please the ones that really want JB on their phones.

Yes this theme will run you a whole dollar in the Play Store. Seems like a simple theme like this should be free, but the developer has to eat too. So If you want to top your ICS with some Jelly Beans, head to the Play Store and fork over that dollar. Remember, you must be rocking a CM9 or AOKP ROM on your device in order to apply this theme.

[CM9 Theme] Gunmetal Cobalt, just different enough to make it Great

Now that CM9 has been officially released in RC format for 37 different devices, we figured we should get back to dropping some cool CM9 themes for you guys to use. In our search we came across a themer that goes by the name of dustinb in the Play Store. He has quite a few themes available and most all of them are free. Building upon the already amazing CM9, he adjusts a few things and adds in a little flare of color and tinting. They all look fantastic, but sharing 7 themes at once with you guys is a little bit of a task.

While many of us love the ICS blue style that Google has bestowed upon us, sometimes we need a change to make us a little different then every other yahoo out there. To make that easy and painless, we present to you the Gunmetal Cobalt theme for CM9 and AOKP. We chose this one simply because many of us like darker themes with less color and more blacks and white. If that is your style too, take a look at dustinb’s latest theme.

For those of you that have been around the CM block a few times, you know what to do. For everyone else, you need to be rooted and you need to be running CM9 or AOKP with the theme engine available. After you pick up the theme below via the available QR code, go to settings > themes then select the Gunmetal Cobalt and apply. If you get some crazy message hit apply anyways. Then reboot your device. All set.

We are sure you have seen Team Carbon floating around the Play Store, various forums and even here on AndroidSPIN a few times. They have a serious number of themes for GO Launcher, CM7 and recently added in CM9 too. The team does a great job of customizing every aspect they can along with updating their themes with changes and new additions. This kind of behavior goes a long way with their followers and customers. It shows too, hitting 1 million active installs is a pretty impressive feat if you ask us. So whats a great theme team to do when they reach a mile stone? Offer up a discount on their paid versions. They didn’t just discount 1 or 2 of their paid themes, instead they have discounted the entire paid collection of CM7 and their recent CM9 themes. For those of you like hard numbers, that takes those themes from $2.99 to $1.99.

As CyanogenMOD evolves, so do the themers. While many users like the stock look and feel, others like to change things up a bit. It took a little while for Cm to get the Theme Engine up and running on CM9, but of course they did it. Since then a variety of CM9 themes have started to pop up all across the Play Store and various forums. Today we found out that TeamCarbon has crossed over from CM7 and Go Launcher themes into CM9 themeing. The first theme to make the cross over is one of their more popular CM7 themes, SteelBlue.

TeamCarbon really goes all out in their themes. There are over 400 application icons themed and they really dig into the entire UI. THere really isn’t a person can say about a theme to make you like it. What we can do though is show you some screenshots. Pictures are worth a thousands word right?

[CM9 Theme] Four slight color variations to your beloved ICS

Not all that long ago the CyanogenMOD team announced that the Theme Engine was getting worked back into nightly builds of CM9. As much as many of us love the stock look of ICS, having the ability to change that up wither dramatically or subtly is always a great thing to have around. CM9 will always stay stock by default, so it is up to you to make it look how ever you want it too. It didn’t take the themers long to get to work on making some great new themes for the community to get their hands one. A quick search on the Play Store revealed quite a few more than I expected to see so soon. That was a very pleasant surprise. While we found a few that dramatically change everything, we thought the more subtle changes might go over a little bit better with many of our readers.

We found a great new minimal change collection from Ricardo Cerqueira. If you have been using CM for a while, pre CM9, you may have already seen and used his work. His most recent contribution to the Android community comes in a series of simple themes that change the standard icy blue color to Orange, Red, Green or Purple. The themes change just the user interface color on your device while maintaining the integrity of the remainder of the icons, look and feel. They really are a great way to off set your devices look just a little without making a drastic change. After all, we know many of you really love the look of ICS all on its own, I know I do. Take a look at a few screenshots of each color below.

They look really nice. All four of the themes are provided free of charge to all who would like them. We shouldn’t have to mention this, but we will. Your device must be running CM9 and support the Theme Engine. If you aren’t sure, check your app drawer. If it is there you are good, if not, then you better keep updating till it appears. A general rule of thumb is to install the theme, set the theme and then reboot your device to make sure it all takes effect correctly.
